Ambrose for the WWII pacific theater?
I'm currently reading D Day by Ambrose. Ive recently read Pegasus Bridge, Band of Brothers and Citizen Soldiers. I like Ambrose's style and was wondering if there was a WWII pacific theater book in a simular style. style being history through personal stories.

I also would be interested in a pacific Stephen Ambrose style wwII book. I've read band of brothers and started reading citizen soldiers.

Flag Of Our Fathers (Iwo Jima)

Does Flog of out Fathers cover the whole pacific war or just iwo jima? i liked how citizen soldiers covered everything from d day to the end for the european theater.
|
Basically Iwo Jima.. I had hoped Ambrose would be doing a PAcific Theater book but I guess thats out of the question now.

I didnt mean to misspell 'Flag' and 'our', i'm just lame.
Maybe Christopher Ambrose will take over and write the book from his fathers notes... |
Even though it doesn't cover all of the War in the Pacific, I recommend E.B. Sledge's book, With the Old Breed. It's basically a memoir of his experiences as a young Marine at the battles of Peleliu and Okinawa. It's very gritty, powerful and moving.

Robert Leckie, author of the fantastic Delivered From Evil, also wrote Strong Men Armed: The United States Marines Against Japan. He also wrote Okinawa: The Last Battle of WWII. I highly recommend anything by Leckie.
By the way, all of these books are available @ Amazon. |
