The Time Machine(2002 and the 60's version) and The Book
 

After I saw The Time Machine(2002) the other night I wondered how close to the book is this version or for that matter the 60's version? I know the 2002 one was directed by H.G. Well's Great Grandson so I figure it's close. Am I right?

I'm thinking of reading The Time Machine to hopefully get more of the story.

I haven't seen the recent one, but I understand it actually mentions the original movie in it if I'm not mistaken? The premise may be the same, but the details will probably be very different. It's not a very long read, I strongly suggest you pick up the book. The original movie is pretty good too.

Thanks. Yes, the 2002 version mentions the movie and the book as if they had nothing to do with the movie. I saw the 60's version but it's been awhile. I think I'll pick up the book this weekend.

Yeah, the two films are very similar in alot of respects but the 60s film is alot more fun (and well done). It's a great DVD and can be found for <$15- the transfer is quite impressive.

The book is really about class structure/warfare in England during the 1800s. Fascinating stuff. HG Wells' stuff still stands up today.

The book is a far cry from the quality of the recent film. It's amazing that such a prodigy eventually sprung from the loins flow-chart of that hack, Herbert George. I mean c'mon! The book didn't even have any CGI in it. P'shaww!

It's nice to know somebody still reads the classics.:D
