darkside 04-01-03 08:51 PM

Just finished Even in the Best Families by Rex Stout.

I just bought and downloaded Lost Light the new Michael Connelly Bosch novel from Palm Digitael Media and I'm starting it tonight. The ebook version has some extra Connelly interviews as a bonus feature and was only $11.47, much cheaper than the hard cover price.

Barnes and Noble is giving away a free Jazz CD with the hardcover purchase at their site for anyone interested. The only other way to get the CD is to buy one of the expensive limited editions or at a book signing. Its the same kind of music Bosch listens to in the novels.

Cerulean Sins is out? As soon as i have some time im going to pick that up. Hamilton is one of the few authors for which im willing to spend $50 CDN for one day of entertainment.

Today im going to finish The Stone Canal and then move on to Nietzsche since i have to write something about it.

Captain Foolish 04-02-03 01:21 AM

Finished Atmosphere, by Michael Laimo. A Scifi/horror book. Not bad.

Started reading The Cobra Event, by, Richard Preston.

Wow! The first chapter. Jesus, what a way to die.

And the autopsy. Very graphic. Very visual.

Preston sure knows how to keep you reading. Just don't eat anything ;)

KayUK 04-02-03 06:30 AM

I wish I had my copy of Cerulean Sins.
Not fair, DHL haven't delivered mine yet, this is the one author I'm prepared to pay top dollar for on delivery as well as product.

How is it everyone, anyone finished yet? I think I finished Narcissus in Chains in about 2 days, I have to read it if there's a new book in the house.

C'mon drive you DHL guys, drive!

Just finished You've Got Murder, by Donna Andrews. A very good read with an unusual main character. It had me laughing out loud in parts.

Now I want to start this series by Laurell Hamilton, but my library only has about half the books, and only one copy of any of the first four and it is in Russian. I may have to hit the used bookstores.

TeeSeeJay 04-02-03 10:26 AM

Started Chuck Palahniuk's Lullaby yesterday.

After that,

All Families Are Psychotic, Douglas Coupland
Pattern Recognition, William Gibson

That should cover the month.

I love this book!

Next, read Hit List, but it is not as good as the first.

Finally reading "Enders Game" by Orson Scott Card. Pretty good.

The new John Varley is on the way (yay!) as well as Replay by Ken Grimwood (thanks to this forum). Might pick up Ghost Rider by Neal Peart too.

Thanks again!!!

Currently I am reading King Con by A-Team creator Stephen Cannell. This is yet another author turned on to me by my father. Digging this so far.

Now, if I could get the old man to read a Connelly book....

Next up will be the new Bosch. :D :D :D

Alien Redrum 04-02-03 08:01 PM

Oh yeah, The Midnight Lair (which I recently finished) was great! If you like horror, you should really give Laymen a turn.

I also recently finish Roses are Red. Now that book was a waste of time. Pure trash. :grunt:

Unfortunately I've wasted my time more than once with a James Patterson book. I keep trying to figure out why he sells so many books. The first two Alex Cross novels were pretty good, but pretty much everything else I've tried of his including First to Die were pretty bad.

movie diva 04-02-03 09:02 PM

Im reading The Last Precinct by Patricia Cornwell, its not one of her better books, but I started and now have to finish. Waiting to get Cerulean Sins and The next Dark Tower book.

Samuel 04-02-03 09:09 PM

Just finished 'Midnight Tour' by Richard Laymon and about to start' Friday Night In Beast House' tonight.
