I like the US version for consistency sakes but holy crap I really like the British Adult version. I have never seen any of the other covers of the British adult version. I may have to pick up my own set and stop borrowing my sisters.

I've never liked the goofy appearance of the U.S. covers. I have the earlier volumes in the British kids' editions, and their covers are decent. The British hardcover image here is perfectly fine and goes along with the earlier volumes I have, but I definitely like the British adult version the best - very stylish!

Why does the US version have the date on it? Seems more like a promotional poster to me.

Shadow77 03-21-03 06:11 PM

I like the US cover, but probably because I'm so used to seeing a similar cover on the other 4 books. The British Adult edition is pretty cool, though. Wonder if the adult version has different text that the children's version?

Compared to the fourth book british cover with the dragon, I'm not to impressed with the british versions. I like the U.S. cover a bit more then the others.

but 42.00 ....

Here you go :)

Harry Potter collectors will delight in this special printing of 350,000 copies of a deluxe edition of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Designed with a full-case cloth cover with gold embossing, printed end sheets, and pages with special deckled edges, the deluxe edition will slide into a special slip box.

Damn, damn, damn. I wanted to vote for the Brit Adult edition, but clicked the wrong one.

Anyway, have a question.

Would anyone know if the Canadian edition of the Harry Potter book will contain the British text, or the American text?

Me, I prefer the original text. I grew up in Ireland so I know what a "lorry" is.

Reason I'm asking is because I think(therefore I'm wrong) I may save a few bucks by buying from a canadian bookseller rather than a UK one.

The Canadian editions are the same as the Brit editions with words like lift and lorry and the leter U in words like colour. Do not know about price, I think it would be cheaper to go Canadian because of shipping costs.

I only see paperback versions of the British cover for books 1-4. Are hardcover available?

smokedragon 03-26-03 04:27 AM

Voted for US version.. looks like the rest that I own..

And what's the deal about the Brit Adult version? It looks like it could be the cover for any book. *yawn*
