Guilty Pleasure Part III: Name Your Pleasure
 

So, we've established that some of us read Indiana Jones novels, others read DC/Marvel novels, and if I remember right, some still read the Star Wars expanded universe stuff.

Personally, I still read the Indy and the SW stuff, and to be honest, they're decent reads, but usually when I'm reading them, I'll think, "Man, I should be reading something more important or in depth. Something that's not fluff."

Anyone else think this while reading? Ever read any other books that make you feel "guilty"?

All the Dune prequels. I had the same feeling of reading more substantial literature and I decided to read Fountainhead (one of my favorites now) and Great Gatsby (somehow my High School missed this one). Now I try to read 1 deep read to 2 fluffs.

I've been reading the Alias prequel books. There are 3 out now. Not exactly a tough read (they are about an hour's read each at most). Cheesy, a guilty pleasure, but a far cry from the usual programming books I'm used to. :)

I love fluff books! More entertaining most of the time.

I've read or bought all the Star Wars books except those based on the new trilogy.

Of course, I've read so much serious stuff in my high school/college years that I don't know if there's much out there in the prominent classics that I haven't read already.

Large amounts of Calvin & Hobbes books in my house. And they're not for my kids...

There's a lot of kid oriented series I still read on occasion, when nostalgia hits me...Gordon Korman's "Bruno & Boots" series, John Fitzgerald's "Great Brain" books...

I like reading children's books that were special to me when I was a lad. Unfortunately, while I remember the plots of some of the ones I loved, I can't remember the title or author, making the search more difficult. Plus, I feel awkward browsing through the children's section of the library. Since there's no child with me, I get paranoid that everyone is looking at me like a pedophile.

About every 5 years or so I get a kick out of pulling out my old choose-your-own-adventure books and seeing where they take me.

Also, I have a great fondness for both Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator. My heart skips a beat every time I read about Charlie unwrapping that last Wonka’s Whipple-Scrumptious Fudgemallow Delight that Grandpa Joe snuck him for his birthday.

I still read the "Great Brain" books occasionally.

I have read some of the Buffy books released.
