I want to read Fast Times At Ridgemont High

The book by Cameron Crowe that the movie is based on. Unfortunately, it seems to be going for a fortune on Ebay and Half.com. Anyone know where I can find it at a reasonable price?

www.alibris.com

and

www.abebooks.com

are the two places I go for used/rare books. I've never seen a decent copy of Fast Times for less than about $75. How much are you willing to spend?

If you don't need to own it, have you tried the library?

Can someone who has read this book tell me how it is? Is the writing good? Is it all that different from the movie? I've seen copies around but the prices are outragous.

There's word the book will be brought back into print soon so I wouldn't drop a bundle on it just yet.

Any word on when this might be happening? If this is true, that would be pretty cool.

I've been wanting this book for years, but I can't justify paying that much for it.

I really hope it gets brought back out.

So what's up with the rumor? Should be any day now, eh? LOL

I, for one, would love to read it, but it is STILL very expensive. Guess I'll have to troll the libraries.

Wow, somebody has a lot of free time to dig up this old thread, eh? I can't even remember where I heard that rumor, um, THREE YEARS AGO, Buttmunker, but I guess it all came to nothing... I would like to read this myself someday...

Not long after this thread, I bought the book on Ebay. I read it, then resold it for about the same price I paid. Good book. Don't know why it is out of print.

Hmm, I had no idea this was a collectable. I bought a used softcover copy at the great Book Nook in Atlanta years ago. I might have to put it up on eBay if it's going for that much (> $50.00).

It's been a long time since I read it, and it was after I had seen the movie ... what I seem to remember is that there was quite a bit in the book that wasn't in the movie, and quite a lot in the movie that wasn't in the book. For some reason I don't remember Spicoli being in the book at all, or if he is it is in a much smaller role. I could be wrong, as I said it's probably been 20 years since I read it. A nice read but not necessarily what you would expect if you're looking for something close to the movie.

But if you sell it, you won't have it anymore. Then, if and when you want to read it again, you'll have to buy it back.

Just keep it. What's $50.00 anyway? That's a tank and a half of gas.
