Ouch! hurt my bank account pretty bad, but been wanting to read all of those. There were a few more books I wanted to pick up, (such as more frank miller, and tons & tons of other stuffs) but I have to control myself, otherwise I could be spending 200+, just on books! (not 1 dvd).

whatcha guys think?

i was lookin around at the library for those chuck Palahniuk books seems they only have fight club and choke (ive never read either but seen the movie) so i guess ill start with survivor

i just read batman dark knight returns and dk2 pt 1, they were awesome. also picked up v for vendetta, the killing joke and year zero (been on a comic binge, though i dont read comics that much). craziness!

Excellent prices. The Amazon book prices before any discounts already have BAMM.COM (subsidiary of Wal-Mart) beat and BAMM is the next lowest price on these items.

BAMM.COM pricing:
Survivor $10.98
Invisible Monsters $11.79
Ronin $14.86
Watchmen $14.86
FROM HELL $26.07
Batman : The Dark Knight Returns $11.14

$89.70 subtotal, S/H same as Amazon

I guess Amazon is getting pretty aggressive at being the "Wal-Mart" in terms of pricing. The BAMM site is very cagey at NOT letting you see the final subtotal costs for items or S/H until the final checkout window.

NOTE: If you were only buying 4 or fewer books, BN.COM might have the prices beat on certain combinations because of their free shipping special with two or more books in your order....

try ebay for books, I've been buying books there for awhile, and though you can't always find what you want, you usaually can get the hardcovers for what you'd pay for a new paperback - sometimes less.

I bought 5 vonnegut books and 4 steinbeck books for 20 buck a few weeks ago

To be honest, I really couldn't get into Ronin...I'd recommend some of his Sin City stuff over that, if you're into that sort of thing (Sin City and Sin City: Dame to Kill For are both excellent).

You need to pick up Choke, as well. I read Fight Club after I saw the movie and it was still very enjoyable. Some things were altered to streamline the movie but the core is all there. Plus the book just has more details here and there. It's like reading the unabridged version of the movie, so to speak. I don't think you would be disappointed.

Let us know what you thought of Survivor and Invisible Monsters. I loved them both. I can't wait 'til Lullaby comes out this fall.

I was dissapointed with Fight Club, but I'm sure thats due to having seen the movie so many times. I liked Survivor alot, but I was a little unsure what happened at the end...
Spoiler:
the prophesy was that he was gonna live, but how could he have? Or was it a live on in history sort of thing?

And to further reiterate what I posted on that other thread about the ending. The stuff posted on the board at chuckpalahniuk.net was posted by Chuck himself.

Great choice on Survivor. It's my Fav chuck book. But Choke comes in close too, after a second read it was much better. Lullaby is going to kick some serious ass when it comes out too....

Wow, you're going to love Invisible Monsters -- I think it's Chuck's finest work.

So, I love the movie, Fight Club. Its one of my favorites, have seen it countless times, and spent equal amounts of time analyzing it with friends. Anyway, I never really had any desire to read the book, because I was told its not much different than the movie, especially for somebody like me who knows the movie inside and out. However, I have heard great things about Chuck Palahniuk and want to read some of his books. What do you suggest I start with? I"m sure if I like one, I'll read his others, but which one would be the best to start with, almost like an introduction to Chuck Palahniuk. Also, Should I skip Fight Club? Thanks for your help and advice.

Start with Survivor. If you like it do Invisible Monsters and Choke. Invisible Monsters is a faster read (was for me anyway) but both are good.

I watched Fight Club several times and loved it. I decided to go ahead and read the book. There are some slight changes but it's mostly to streamline the movie. All the changes are justifiable in my eyes and none detracted from the story. I'm glad I read the book and will do so again, I'm sure. It hasn't affected my desire to watch the movie either. I still watch it too.
