New Patterson book...why the co-auther?

The new book by James Patterson (2ND CHANCE) states it was written Andrew Gross. Does anyone know why Patterson suddenly needs a co-author? Perhaps Gross wrote the think while using Patterson's characters and story ideas?

I saw this, too, and cannot find any info on it.

Odd, because he wrote the other women's murder club book without anyone else.

Somewhat off topic, but do you know if there will be any more Alex Cross books, or has he abandoned the character?
Thanks!

My guess is that he is creating a franchise.

Clancy has 3 franchises.

I just finished 1st to Die yesterday and am about 100 pages into 2nd Chance today. They have the exact same characters.

I was checking the book jacket of 2nd To Die for the answer to why he had a co author, and it said he is working on another Alex Cross and Murder club book.Remember when this guy took forever to crank out a book, now he putting out 2 a year?Hope the quality doesn't suffer because he feels the need to churn books out more often.
