How to find find first time authors?
I've been on a mission to expand my horizons and start reading first time authors whenever I can. But aside from browzing B&N.com or amazon, or perusing the bookcases at B&B shops, is there any way to find first time authors? Like a list of coming attractions?

Look for an author that you haven't heard of before in your particular genre, then look to see if they have anything else in print. Every so often you get "First-time author!" on the cover. Other than that, I can't really think of anything.

What I do is I go to the used book store and browse the genre I like and read the little blurbs in front. I look for authors that I like to have written one of these blurbs. I have found a lot of good books this way. plus I have spent only a few dollars on the book so if it is horrible no big loss

I love the feeling of finding a first time author and pointing all my friends in that direction. I have no problem perusing the shelves at B&N or whatever, but sometimes I miss good books. I guess what I'm looking for is a site that lists new authors or one that has high-quality reviews of new books.
