Black Hawk Down

Currently reading "Black Hawk Down", and looking forward to the upcoming movie version directed by Ridley Scott. Author Mark Bowden sits you aboard a Black Hawk helicopter and drops you right into the firefight. The mission gets pretty bloody, and I hope Sony Pictures will let Ridley adapt the book faithfully. Bowden adapted his own book for the screen, so I have high hopes that the film will be true to what I'm reading.

I hope you're right. This is one movie Hollywood doesn't need to F*** up.

Amazing book. Terrific account of what happened. I first read this thing last spring. Just started reading it again because what's going on in the world.

I doubt I'll see the movie.

book is very good since it goes into deeper detail
movie was good as well, and follows the book fairly well

Book was great. Better than the movie in some ways. The movie was made more dramatic and more patriotic, it was nice to read about the Somalis' perspective as well as the more gritty details of what went on that day.

The book is much less clean cut than the film is. They didn't screw around during the fighting. If a women or child got in the way they were mowed down like the rest, not like the scene where that kid accidentally shoots his buddy and the Ranger decides not to shoot the kid. In ways the movie was like a hoorahh, gung ho, propaganda film for the Army (I'll probably get flamed for that).

It was a good film and a great book IMO.
