Lord of the Rings - 2001 Calendar question

I was in Waldenbooks the other day and I noticed a book form 2001 Calendar for the film version of the Lord of the Rings. Although I want to be completely surprised with seeing as much of the film on the screen and not in print (still pictures) my curiousity compelled me to open it up. Of course did I mean to open to page with a possible spoiler. Without going into more detail, what I saw could have been the Moria Cave Troll or the Balrog, having read more stuff off the internet I think it was the former. To say the least I was really bummed in seeing this picture and closed the book, the question I have though, has anyone else looked through the entire calendar - are there any more spoilers (i,e Gollum?).

Lord of the Rings - 2001 Calendar question

I've not seen it but have a (silly?) question: regardless of the original subject header, are you talking about a 2001 or a 2002 calendar?

Just curious, but how is seeing a picture of a creature that you may or may not know what it is, a spoiler of any sort? Especially when it sounds like you know what said creature does and is, at least enough to make an educated guess?

I think it was one of those Sept to Aug 01 - 02 "Student Planner" Calendars - I cant recall. Secondly I find any sort of prerelease still photos (Fangoria does this to too many horror movies) a little of a letdown , it reduces the surprise element , that's all, wouldnt you agree?

I don't know, as I generally don't read magazines or watch shows about films, etc. I assumed people that did read or watched them to find out as much as they could about a film before they saw it. I can see your point though, it probably would take some air out of the film if I was able to recognize 12 big scenes from a film because I happened to see the calendar or other stills.
