Spoiler:

A couple ways to interpret this. One: he died. and two:
Remember when he was describing the little pile of things on the floor of the plane? Watches, mini-casette RECORDER?? Well, what he "might" have done was...when he went to take a piss, took a recorder, dictated his final speech (from when engine four flamed out) into the recorder and when the engine did die, he pushed play on the recorder and jumped out with the parachute. You may ask, what parachute, I thought there was only one? And only one person died? Well that is true...the pilot was pushed out without a parachute and Tender kept it.

Basically, Tender was a murderer...he talked about cleaning blood from a fur coat (cornmeal brushing the wrong way, the trick is to forget what you are doing) and many times he mentioned things along the line of "if you believe something enough then it becomes true..." so if he kept telling himself he didn;t kill anyone, then he didn;t do it. He had access to ALL the Creedish files did he not?

This stuff is a combo of stuff taken from the message board on Chuckpalahniuk.net and my own thinking...

PS:
[spoiler] made you look [/spolier]

Survivor help. (Spoilers)

I just finished reading Chuck Palahniuk's Survivor, and I enjoyed it. I have to do a "book talk" about this in class. I have to have a speech discussing the themes of the book, and why I liked it so much.

I can't really get started, but if a few members would put in some input, and let me know what the book meant to them, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
-Matt

Tyler, thank you. You gave me a great deal of help.

also, this is kind of strange. We have to have a visual aid. Like a poster/item or something that relates to the book. I have no idea what to pick. Bring in a tape recorder/fake gun/have a poster with what on it? Not sure, any help would be great.

Take in a slab of raw beef and a postcard from Branson, MO.

Maybe some flowers would suffice for a visual aid.

Or bring any household chemical and explain, in true deadpan Palahniuk fashion, all the smutty things you can clean up with it.

So I guess I'm as stupid as the narrarator, but what happens at the very end?

Spoiler:
Did he die in the plane crash or what? What did she mean when she said he knew a way out?

thanks-

I think he leaves it ambiguous so you can come up with what you feel happens...I have my own theories and I believe
Spoiler:
the plane crashes at the end and he dies. I just think it makes the story better. I dont want a "happily ever after" ending, regardless of what Chuck says

Spoiler:
It's been a while since I read it but I believe Tender mentions something about multiple parachutes in the beginning. There's also speculation that he killed the pilot and just pushed him out thereby not wasting a parachute on him.

Spoiler:
He recorded his story into the black box recorder and has long since parachuted to safety when the plane crashes.
