Re: B&N - 50% off Criterion Sale

I grabbed the Bruce Lee box set, but via the Amazon price match. I had 5 bucks in Amazon credit card fun money, so I saved a few bucks that way.

Initial purchases: To Die For, Bound, Dogfight, and Le Samourai (a long-time want I've finally rectified).

Just pre-ordered Risky Business, which is already at the sale price on Amazon.

On July 16, I'll definitely go get Perfect Days, which is just wonderful.

Just one purchase so far, and it might be the only one for this sale as I made a Deep Discount purchase too.

Blind Buys

Bound- 4k
Lone Star- 4k
Love Streams (John Cassavetes)- Blu Ray

Upgrades

The Others- 4k
Pat Garrettt & Billy The Kid- 4k.

PG&BTK is a great package. I haven't watched the new 50th Anniversary cut yet, but I loved the Theatrical and 2nd Preview Cuts that are also included. I recommend this to Western and Sam Pekinpah fans.

Re: B&N - 50% off Criterion Sale

We haven't been out much lately, so when Amazon finally price matched the blu of The Heroic Trio/Executioners, I threw it in with some other stuff we needed.

Probably all I'll do this time.

Re: B&N - 50% off Criterion Sale

Wim Wenders' Perfect Days comes out today. I mentioned it a few posts ago, but thought I'd put this out there. It's a wonderful, moving film, VERY worthy of a blind buy, I'm a big fan of a lot of Wenders' earlier stuff, from The American Friend to Wings of Desire to Paris Texas, and I'm not kidding when I say this story about a man who cleans toilets in Tokyo may be his best film. Check it out!

Perfectly on topic, and a wonderful experience. Got to see it that way myself a few years ago (and the Janus Films opening logo was a bonus cuz it meant the Criterion edition would be forthcoming and it was). Will you also be seeing the superior (IMO) Executioners?

Nope, just THT. This theater's ( https://www.straycatfilmcenter.com/screeningsandevents ) pretty good about showing Hong Kong stuff, so maybe someday. They did a really fun Category III series last Fall that I hope they repeat this year.
