Re: SAE Twilight Time Sale - every Blu-ray 4.95-14.95
Thanks Hariseldon for your prompt response. I have sent Twilight Time an email asking about Suddenly Last Summer.
I got a quick response.
Hi Classic Films
That is our fault and I deeply apologize.
I just checked with the tech team and they told me there was a mistake adding that title to the eligible list.
It is now fixed and should work for you.
Very sorry for the inconvenience.

Excellent. It almost had to be a mistake -- with all the other confusion about Sunday it would almost be a surprise is something like that didn't fall through the cracks.
I'm pleasantly shocked they responded and fixed it so quickly.

Re: SAE Twilight Time Sale - every Blu-ray 4.95-14.95
Received an email from SAE last night that they'll take remaining inventory from TT to liquidate on SAE effective 7/1. The current pricing on SAE (which does NOT match TT) will continue until 5/31. Doesn't say what will happen from 6/1 thru 6/30 - my guess is they may throw in some other package offer to maximize returns on their leftover TT inventory.

Email from Twilight Time:

We are incredibly grateful for every one of your orders, and your support of Twilight Time to the bitter end.
As many of you have noted in the past two months, our ability to ship orders in high volume has been impeded by COVID-19, as our warehouse workers are required to follow stringent safety protocols for their protection and yours. This means that we can only process a certain number of shipments per day.
Unfortunately, we have received such a massive influx of thousands of orders in the past 3 days that our warehouse has informed us it will take a few weeks to fully catch up on shipments. All orders are being shipped out in the order received, and our warehouse is working 7 days a week to attempt to get through this backlog as fast as possible.
We ask your patience and understanding while we work diligently to meet this unprecedented demand. Please note that emails to our support staff may also be slightly delayed in receiving a response, as we are also fielding a great number of inquiries at the moment.
Thank you for your support and understanding!

Important Update on Shipping
When we made our store closing announcement on Sunday, we could never have imagined the response from thousands of film collectors who have all come forward to place their final orders with us.We are incredibly grateful for every one of your orders, and your support of Twilight Time to the bitter end.

I'm not sure if they just sold out so fast their pages haven;t caught up or if they'd declined/deleted/cancelled enough purchases there are items being returned.
We'll see but I think most of it is just massive overwhelming of their system. I'm actually shocked it didn't crash with the 36 hr onslaught
by my envelope numbers
Late Sunday Monday -- 40000 disc sold (half their remaining stock)
Tuesday - 5000 units which for most sale is an avalanche
Wed (so far) - 2500 still an extremely busy day in normal terms. I'm still seeing what looks like some small Bulk Buys, but it's 5 discs of the same title and probably several Titles at once, but not 50-100 of multiple items in 5 minutes.
Some of the number for certain titles are just baffling honestly. Many good titles that should have sold long ago, but some real scratchers
Melvin and Howard and Bedazzled sold 800 units in less than 48 hrs
Beat the Devil and Birth of a Nation over 600
Lawman 700 units since Sunday
A Man Called Peter 500 and Children of the Huang Shi -- 600 units
The Chase, Wild Bill, and Talk Radio 500
Three Coins in a Fountain with the extra promo around 650

Re: SAE Twilight Time Sale - every Blu-ray 4.95-14.95
There are some guilty flicks in the Cannon fodder like 'Ten to Midnight' or 'Kinjite' but JLThompson's and Bronson's collaborations went totally south with very little redemptive value on each successive release and for me 'Murphy's Law' belongs in that latter kind. A few years ago, I splurged on every mediabook version I could find on Amazon Germany to put together an exclusive Bronson collection and regretted two of them the most - 'Murphy's Law' and 'The Evil That Men Do'. Ah, the price we pay for our whimsical pursuits :-). But like they say, the thrill is in the hunt. Good Luck with the SAE sale(s) whenever it is.

Anyway, I ended up purchasing a bunch of titles On SAE because the shipping was lower and they still had the titles I wanted in stock. That swayed me even though TTM had the lower prices.

Kinda OT, but Eye of the Needle and Theater of Blood can be had elsewhere as long as you're region free or have a player that can play region B discs.

on 1080/50 transfer, quite a few have forced subs and of course more than a handful are just plain bootlegs.
With the current prices and overall pretty strong presentations the US TT are cheaper and often better or at least the same as the excellent UK releases. Many of the UK discs are technically superior and/or frequently have excellent extras too.

Stuck a copy of INFERNO in my cart late last night – just in case (even though I already own it) – and noticed it was gone this morning. The others (HELL AND HIGH WATER, RAPID FIRE x2, HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS, HOUR OF THE GUN and UNDERWORLD USA) still seem to be hanging in there with 50+ copies, but that itch is getting stronger by the minute. I think only Rapid Fire is a full-on Fox-only title, so maybe there's a chance the others might get picked up by Kino or whomever if I did miss out.

Another e-blast announcement. Could be interesting:
SCREEN ARCHIVES ACQUIRES TWILIGHT TIME BACK CATALOG
May 14, 2020 -- Screen Archives Entertainment has reached an agreement with Twilight Time Movies to purchase the company’s extensive Twilight Time Movies inventory or back catalog, along with reprint rights of limited titles, and its website effective July 1, 2020. The agreement ensures that the Twilight Time label will continue indefinitely, according to the principals.
Screen Archives has served as the primary distribution partner to Twilight Time since its beginning, working with the late Nick Redman and co-founder Brian Jamieson.
Jamieson, a veteran studio executive and filmmaker will continue to provide marketing expertise and support to Screen Archives during the transition.
Screen Archives president Craig Spaulding said, “Having worked with Brian and Nick over the years, we took this step because we have always enjoyed a good relationship with Brian (and Nick). We wanted to keep our relationship going and continue to capitalize on Brian’s years of expertise in the industry.
Screen Archives began in 1976 and has grown into a worldwide distributor of soundtracks, DVDs, and Blu-rays. No further details will be made available until after July 1, 2020.

Based on the same base elements from reading the Bluray and HTF threads. Teh extras are similar, but TT adds a couple new items
Several people who have seen both discs think the TT disc is a better encode (some say significantly so) and overall presentation of the underlying transfer.

Re: SAE Twilight Time Sale - every Blu-ray 4.95-14.95
I guess any existing period where Twilight Time has exclusive rights to a title will remain and so Sony for example won't be able to put out its own version of "Gidget" until Twilight Time exclusive rights expire. Big question will be will SAE license additional films under the Twilight Time banner or will they just continue to sell current stock and print additional copies of existing titles if they have a long enough window to sell them. I don't know the answer.
On another topic . I noticed on my yet to ship order from Twilight Time this notice below a number of titles ordered.
"Unfortunately this product is no longer for sale so it cannot be reordered."
I assume this means I will still get my blu rays and that this means I won't be able to order additional copies.
I will know for sure when the order ships.

received my 10/$115 I ordered from May 10 today.

The final sale order I made a few hours after it went live, I have had 3 items canceled so far.

Another Woman
Inferno
Gun Fury
I use this site (there's an app version, too) to see where films to stream are available:
https://www.justwatch.com/us
Saves so much time and money. It also does tv shows. What I have noticed is that it doesn't pull from certain sites like Criterion Channel, Kanopy, etc.

Re: SAE Twilight Time Sale - every Blu-ray 4.95-14.95
Slight change to the wording of the first paragraph of SAE's email blast. Mention of the reprint rights and the TT website have been removed.
SCREEN ARCHIVES ACQUIRES TWILIGHT TIME BACK CATALOG
May 14, 2020 -- Screen Archives Entertainment has reached an agreement with Twilight Time Movies to purchase the company’s extensive Twilight Time Movies inventory or back catalog effective July 1, 2020.

Re: SAE Twilight Time Sale - every Blu-ray 4.95-14.95
By the time I looked, all the Woody Allen's were long gone. The only thing left of interest to me was an Edward G Robinson film I wasn't familiar with. Unfortunate with there 1 item shipping price & sales tax, it would have been close to $20. Hopefully SAE will price them low.
Edit: I just looked at their site. High prices, & total rip off shipping rates. I have all the Woody's on DVD; I'll survive!
