I ended up with
Do the Right Thing
Monterey Pop 2-disc
Shampoo
Blue Velvet
(and renewed my Membership against my better judgement as I never shop there)
I was upset that I couldn't find a copy of Silence of the Lambs. They have a big ad for it in-store but no copies and they can't order it either. Is it OOP? Should I grab it from Amazon for $23 while I still can?

You could also look at stores with it in stock and call -- some stores will ship to you direct from store (FS members and sometimes even member discount).
I'd make sure your member number/account is active onliine first or call CSR and see if they can push the activation. Sometimes store registrations can take a while to activate fully

Re: Barnes & Noble Summer 2019 Criterion 50% Off MSRP Sale June 28 through August 5
Today's the last day for the sale.
I picked up:War and Peace
BPD Trilogy
One Sings the Other Doesn’t
Police Story (I had to go to three B&N before I found one in stock and in nice condition)
Detour
I was thinking about getting The Baker's Wife - but I haven't seen much in the way of reviews on the Blu-ray, same for Let The Sunshine In - Maybe Turner Classic Movies will play them at some point, so I can see how they look,
Tom Jones was another maybe, just watched, and enjoyed that on TCM the other day. Seems like there is not a lot of love for that movie these days.
and The Magnificent Ambersons is on my maybe list as well, but I'll probably pass.
I am excited for the release of Godzilla collection!

My haul...
Blue Velvet
Klute
America Lost and Found: The BBS Story
Police Story/Police Story 2
I exercised some restraint this time after catching a glimpse of my backlog of unwatched titles.

It did. Ordered it with free shipping because of the membership. Couldn't get the extra 10% off, but still not a bad deal for a top-10 all-time favorite film of mine. Thanks.

I've got Tom Jones from a few sales back and am looking forward to just right mood (or chunk of time) to watch it.
Picked up Baker's Wife this sale and it's another one I'm looking forward to. Though at 140 minutes, I'm really going to need to be in the proper frame of mind for it. I think it was earlier in this thread that I mentioned the only place I'd ever heard of it was the book 1001 Movies You Must See. It sounded great, so it's just a matter of getting my headspace right for it.
I finally watched Orpheus a couple weeks ago. I must have had that about five years, but I was looking for a second feature to close out the night, and was in a dreamy state of mind which was perfect for it. I feel I wuld have got more out of it had I been more familiar with the myth and some of the French culture of the time, but that's what supplements are for. I'll go through those before another viewing in a few more years.

I'm not sure I understand -- were you expecting to?
I thought there was a small group of 27.99 titles (30% off) though it's possibly your store didn;'t carry those, the 30% Off Stckers weren't placed, or that program was discontinued.
Next 50% sale should be in November

Welcome to the forum! The membership is worth it if you plan on buying a bunch of titles or other stuff from B&N. You get 10% off your purchases and they send you coupons in the mail as well. Unfortunately, we can no longer use them on Criterions but I can always find stuff for my kids to use the coupons on.

Plenty of ways to get good to great deals without a membership, but it easier to do with a membership.
Simple way to decrease event the initial fee is grab a 15-20% discounted Gift Card from one of the GC reseller sites and pay for the membership with it
As with most things -- the items you really want to buy are the key to whether it's worth it.
The Criterion sale is not longer the best deal with B&N though it's pretty much the only way to get Criterion at a B&M store AND esp to get pretty much the best prices anyway. If you stock up on the discounted
gift cards ahead of time then it's like getting a big coupon discount on everything without the hassle.
If you buy things Day 1 and mainly consume std Mass Market Media, the B&N isn't likely your best deal.
If you don't mind waiting for sales and buy Niche/Boutique titles and are willing to set foot in store, talk with a clerk to arrange ship to home orders -- Warner Archive, the Sony and Universal pressed MOD blurays, last 40% off sale the SHOUT titles were very popular, quite a few of Cohen titles.
The Arrow sales have been popular though unless you demand NO LOGO and only US titles, the ArrowUK Direct sales often are a better deal

I've always wondered how many Criterions they sell outside the 50% sale. They must have a serious deal with Criterion itself to stock an entire section of titles.
