Barnes & Noble Summer 2019 Criterion 50% Off MSRP Sale June 28 through August 4, 2019 (Preliminary)

I'll go ahead and start the new thread since I think there are now 3 or 4 reports from different employees about the start date and one person who said he
saw a sign with the end date.

Note the Friday start and Sunday end dates -- a bit unusual on both ends given the past sales though last summer, the sale ran from Friday June 29 through Monday Aug 6 so this is similar.
More B&N are starting to end on Sunday

As usual this will likely be in-store and online including DVD, BD, and Eclipse line
No coupons likely will be accepted though we can always hope
10% Member Discount applied for in-store and store generated Ship to Home.

It's always possible some August-September preorders might be 50% off for ship to home - not regular web orders. We'll have to check after the sale starts and early August
In some past sales I've had preorders all the way to mid October show, virtually none show up, and last year the September titles were 50% off but not August or October just to confuse everyone.

Didn't know they released I Wanna Hold Your Hand. That seemed like a pretty inconsequential little film and totally unremarkable except for the fact that its director would go on to much bigger and better things.

Blue Velvet for sure, and then deciding what to do about Police Story I/II & In the Heat of the Night. The latter two are upgrades from the Shout and MGM discs respectively and I'm thinking just hold off on those until the likely Criterion sale in November (surely there is one more title I can find at that point). We'll see.

I'll be hitting one of the locations tomorrow to put some of these on hold. Given B&N's new owner's plans, I had been tempted to max this sale out- but there's still an Arrow sale winding down and a huge Kino sale to look forward to next month.
Criterion will likely continue to have flash sales twice a year anyway.

Just to confirm, I tried the 10% off SUNSHINE coupon and it did not work with the sale.Not unexpected but it was still worth a try.

Classic Films

Arrow Videos are also 50% OFF and the code SUNSHINE works on these titles. Sale includes preorders so titles like "Hold Back The Dawn" are included.

Arrow seems to be mostly an online sale. There were a few instore titles with a 50% sticker similar to december, but a couple weren't part of the sale. I also checked 2 or 3 ship to home titles and none of those were
50% off so no way to add the member discount to the Sale price.

I also check an August Criterion and September Criterion -- both were normal price so for now at least none of the titles releasing after the end date of the sale are included

Classic Films

I got a bit screwed on the Arrow titles I ordered ship to home. I had 2 20% off coupons I got in the mail. When they scanned the coupons they got a message that said they had to be manually entered. When they did that it over road the 10% membership discount so I only got the 20% off. Unfortunately you can't see that until after the purchase when you get the receipt. I pointed this out and they insisted that you can't get both discounts. I said then what was the purpose of membership ? I asked them to cancel the order and give me back my coupons. They couldn't. They said they couldn't cancel the ship to home order at the store . They called B&N customer service and they couldn't locate the order since it hadn't processed yet. So they couldn't cancel it ether. On top of that, I included the preorder of the Criterion of Klute in this ship to home order. The clerk incorrectly manually applied the 20% off to that also but since coupons don't apply to Criterions it didn't take the 20% off that item but is also overroad the 10% membership discount so they charged me $20 for Klute. I told them I would dispute the charge when processed and refuse delivery when the order comes. I've got to find a different Barnes and Noble store. This all happened when store checked me out at the customer service desk instead of going to the regular check outline.

My store had already sold out of the few copies they had of 'A Face In The Crowd", "The Heiress", and "Swing Time" when I went at about 4:00 PM. They could be ordered ship to home with the 10% membership discount.
