CRITERION FLASH SALE Starting March 5, 2019 Noon ET

CRITERION FLASH SALE Starting March 5, 2019 Noon ET
Starting March 5, 2019 Noon ET Through approx Noon ET Wednesday March 6, 2019

From Criterions's Facebook Page

https://scontent-iad3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...48&oe=5D2597D4

Normally this is approx 24 hrs though it often ends up lasting a bit longer and doesn't always get off the mark exactly on time. Extensions have been anywhere from zero to to several hours depending on demand and if the server crashes enough times (Soccer Penalty Time). The extensions have been much shorter or nonexistent the last couple sales as their website has functioned better in general

50% off MSRP (not current/Usual price) all in-stock movies -- DVD, BD, Includes Eclipse set, but not general merchandise

Free Shipping at $50 in the Lower 48 US otherwise $6.95 flat rate shipping USPS or $8.95 UPS
Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, PO Box, APO/FPO -- $6.95 Priority Mail

International orders other than Canada
Less than 4lbs -- WorldMail/CanadaPost 9.95 1st + 2.95ea added
Over 4lbs -- DHL Express 19.95 1st + 3.95 each additional item
Customs and Brokerage fees added by Delivery Service/Collected at Delivery and are the responsibility of the customer

Sales Tax has been expanded and now required -- Alabama, California, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Washington and Washington D.C

New releases included. Preorders almost never are allowed.
Normally items go out of stock and backorders aren't taken, but the last few sales some items return to stock several times.

Criterion Loyalty program -- $50Gift Cert for every cumulative purchase of $500 even if it takes 5 years. In the past those loyal rewards certs are sent via email almost immediately and are eligible for immediate use.

If you are close to $500 and have enough total items, I'd suggest making an order just big enough to qualify for the Loyalty Cert plus FS, then make another $50+ order with the extra money rather than make one large order and then have to wait 6 months for the next flash sale though the GC/Rewards don;t expire. You can load them into your account and the $$$ will be there next sale.

Honestly I don't think I could recommend any movie and esp not a Criterion Collection for everyone.

Bergman is considered one of the greatest directors ever and many of these films are in the Top 100 Movie Ever produced, but if you don't like 1950-1970's European style films, many in B&W, mostly dialog driven, subtitled, non action/ non-crime/non-mystery, mostly Dramas, sometimes bordering on experimental, and not always in-your-face plotting then I'm not sure you're going to enjoy Bergman.

OTOH -- 30+ films for $150 and the massive book included is a screaming deal if your are enamored with this era in film

Tempted about the Olympics films set. it's $200. But that's still a lot of money for something that won't get a lot of replay value. But, I am interested in Olympics history.

Anyone have that set?

For me Bergman is one of the greatest directors ever. I've already seen and own on DVD most of the films in that collection so for me it''s a no brainer. If I were you I'd check out a couple of his films before purchasing.

I would start with these 3

The Seventh Seal
Wild Strawberries
Through a Glass Darkly

Agreed with all previous comments-
Bergman an awesome director-
Swedish language art house type films filled with drama and emotions many having to do with Life and especially Death in an observer type way and provoke thought and discussion.
Great films all if your into this type of cinema and yes an amazing set for sure!!!

Also picked up the Bergman set. Got it for $90 with $50 loyalty card and $10 for signing up with Criterion channel. It arrived today and man is this thing a beast! This would be a deal at $150. For $90 I feel like I committed some sort of crime.

My discs showed up today. Several months of snow are melting and my mailman placed it right under my porch overhang. I picked it up about 10 minutes later and the cardboard was completely soaked. Luckily the cases are shrink wrapped.

He did the same thing yesterday with some art prints my wife ordered. Luckily, those were also wrapped in plastic.

Well, it's more like $590 and by that I mean exactly $589.97. And I got 25 extra criterion discs to go with my 30 disc box set, so I think I did alright. But you know that.

Yeah, I just like messing with people who post even worse things like “I got this item for free (with $30 gift card I got from mom).” No, you paid $30.

Finally got the Bergman set myself too!

Just bypass all of that and figure I get 9% off everything (500 paid /550 merchandise ) then somehow figure the extra $10 discount spread over all the purchases for that Sale.
