I feel like an idiot. I picked up some 4K movies today and I still don't have a 4K TV yet  I know some day once our projector craps out I'll get one, but I guess for now I can at least play the discs on my Xbox on a 135 inch screen.

Just got back from Best Buy tonight after I saw Creed 2. I found parking relatively easy. Spent about 1 hour and pretty much got everything I wanted.

Wow, I went a little crazy, Spent about $592. But, I did buy some tech in addition to the 4Ks and BDs I got. I got a new Samsung Chromebook that was on sale for $99. I also got the Roku Ultra, a couple of the Amazon Fire 4K sticks. One is for a friend for X-Mas. The other I will keep and possibly use when I got on the road. I also got a new dedicated 4K UHD player for $129. So dirt cheap for these now. This way I don't have to use my XBox One S to play 4K's anymore.

The list of 4Ks and BDs I got is way too long and will be too cumbersome to type out.

Overall a good shopping experience even though I spent a shit load tonight.

You should just bite the bullet and get a new 4K TV and get a new 4K UHD player. They are so freaking cheap.

Unless your wife would have a problem with you spending the money on something you don't really need. ;)

I mean you can get a new 4K TV and player and spend no more than $400 total, but that depends on the size of the TV you want. 4K smart TV's are so cheap.

Re-visited Best Buy today. I had to exchange the 4K UHD player I bought last night because I found out it wasn't Wi-Fi compatible.

Anyways, the media section was plowed through and was a mess. If you didn't shop last night, you were mostly out of luck for the good stuff.

I did somehow manage to find Despicable Me 3 for $6, which I forgot to get last night. I went looking for Rambo II and III on 4K and they were all out.

Unless there is something really great, I think I'm done shopping.

Like the past couple of BFs, this one was so-so. But there were still some OK acquisitions. On Blu Ray: John Wick 2, Paddington 2, and Isle of Dogs at Target; Deadpool 2 at WM. DVDs included Gotham S4, Blacklist S5, Rio 2, 21 Jump St., & Spiderman Homecoming. Not a great haul, but these were the ones I wanted that I could find in the chaos.

Thanks for the heads up!

I'm fine with paying the extra $2, as I don't have Amazon Prime.

Same here. I figured if it was only a couple of bucks more I would just get the 4K version as long as it had BD's with it. I'll have to type up my complete haul later as I went a little overboard on the sales this year.

I’m up to maybe a dozen 4K discs, with no compatible player or TV. But in each case they were not upgrades, included a BD and digital code, and were $9 or less; so I’m just future-proofing.

I used to do that about, about thirty years ago, when I started collecting laserdiscs.
"y'know they may be $40 a pop, but the picture will never degrade."

:)

But I'm generally opting for the 4K release now too, as long as it also contains a Bd and is the same or less than the standard Bd release.

Re: BLACK FRIDAY/HOLIDAY - 2018 Haul thread

Got my 1st standalone 4K UHD player from Best Buy on Thanksgiving. Had been using my XBox One S, but got tired of firing that up just to play a movie.

It was a Sony player for only $149.

I did one last round of shopping last night on Amazon:

Halloween 4K

Rambo III 4K

Pacific Rim Uprising 4K

Strike Back season 5

also got a $25 XBox gift card to reload my account and the $39.99 PSN 1-year membership as my account expires in a few weeks.

I'm tapped out. I feel kind of guilty spending all this money on me, but then again I work really hard for my money, so why not occasionally have a little fun and reward myself.

I still have to purchase gifts for friends and family eventually.

I missed out on the BOGO glitch last year as I didn't follow the thread here for some reason. And I only got around to two stores this year. Was too busy to make it to any others before it got shut down.

Disappointed there were no really good deals on the DC tv sets this year. Guess I'll pick those up later when they eventually drop in price.
