Criterion.com 50% Off MSRP Flash Sale sale October 16 2018 Noon ET
SALE LIVE CRITERION FLASH SALE
Through approx Noon ET Wednesday Oct 17, 2018
No PROMO Code needed
Normally this is generally 24 hrs though it often ends up lasting a bit longer and doesn't always get off the mark exactly on time. Extensions have been anywhere from a few minutes to several hours depending on demand and if the server crashes enough time (Soccer Penalty Time)
50% off MSRP (not current/Usual price) all in-stock movies -- DVD, BD, Includes Eclipse set, but not general merchandise
Free Shipping at $50 in the US. I don't think Criterion does international orders other than Canada.
Sales Tax -- NY, KY required to collect for all online sites
New releases included. Preorders almost never are allowed.
Normally items go out of stock and backorders aren't taken, but the last few sales some items return to stock several times.
Criterion Loyalty program -- $50Gift Cert for every cumulative purchase of $500 even if it takes 5 years. In the past those loyal rewards certs are sent via email almost immediately and are eligible for immediate use.
If you are close to $500 and have enough total items, I'd suggest making an order just big enough to qualify for the Loyalty Cert plus FS, then make another $50+ order with the extra money rather than make one large order and then have to wait 6 months for the next flash sale though the GC/Rewards don;t expire. You can load them into your account and the $$$ will be there next sale.

I just grabbed 8 Hours In A Day at about 35-40%......... oh well. I don't remember the release date, but I'm 99% sure the Bergman Box isn't out yet. So hopefully it will be included in B&N's sale.

It will automatically include discs released during sale -- end date unknown, but likely will be between Nov 26 and Dec 3.
Anything released after that date is a bit YMMV and usually is only available as a store based ship to home order. In July, the Aug and Oct titles weren't eligible, but Sept were. Last Nov, all the Dec titles ended up eligible but not Jan+. July 2017 sale all the title Aug to near the end of Oct were eligible so no real pattern.
Bergman 99% will be available since it releases Nov 20 at least for now.
Some are wondering about store stock of such large sets or if the online stock will be short so either reserving a copy instore pretty early by calling the store or putting in an online order ASAP may not be a bad idea.
If the December+ titles are eligible for the 50% sale there is usually a second chance during the 40% sale preChristmas. Last year even allowed coupons on Criterions so some of the prices were better then. With Ship to Home orders the 40% has been more friendly for titles released 1-2 months after the end of the sale.
The problem is that some 40% sale exclude Criterion completely (usually teh June sale) and coupons are never predictable on 40% off Titles.

The lady I deal with at my B&N told me last weekend that they've heard around 3 weeks which would put it in that time frame.

Thanks for the reminder on this sale. I'm barely one disc away from a $50 certificate, which means 2 more discs with some points left over.

I'm $85 away. I won't hit it this sale, probably.

Love Criterion and all, but I just don't have 3 titles I really want. I'll probably just pick the 1 or 2 I want during B&N's later this year. Oh well.

My plan:
Female Trouble
The Lure
To round out the order for free shipping, one of the following:
Don't Look Now
Seconds
Boyhood
Eating Raoul
The Last Temptation of Christ
I'll spend the day mulling it over

I've been out of the game for nearly 5 years, so I have a lot of catching up to do. I'm over $600 poorer now. But I'm so much richer in cinema!

I just ordered...
Andrei Rublev
My Man Godfrey
Heaven Can Wait
Ride the Pink Horse
$84.88 shipped. No tax. It would've been something like $5 less if I'd held out for the Barnes and Noble sale (since I'm a member and get 10% off), but...eh, why wait?

No more pedestrian than me, my friend. Most of my Criterions are movies like Repo Man, Dazed and Confused, Night of the Living Dead, Silence of the Lambs, House, Ghost World, Quadrophenia, etc. I occasionally get artsy with Valerie and Her Week of Wonders or Fantastic Planet, but that's about it. Oh, and Kurosawas.

Re: Criterion.com 50% Off MSRP Flash Sale sale October 16 2018 Noon ET
It's probably because I treat Criterion like Kino now where I pick off titles one by one here and there as I find them for good deals. I actually have a Criterion coming to me currently, Lost in America that normally I would have bought in a sale like this but opted to get a couple of dollars cheaper from a private seller.
I only have about 40 Criterions but just very choosy when picking which ones I want. I still want Sex, Lies and Videotape as well as Princess Bride when it comes out. But I'll just bide my time until November for B&N or even next year for the next Criterion flash sale.

But! As I said, I'm playing catch up. I still have a lot of other Criterion blus and quite a few DVDs, many of which could be upgraded but will have to wait. I promise I'm a degenerate like the rest of you

I had a nearly full run of Criterion DVDs back around when we hit spine #600 or so and Blu-rays started coming out. I’ve since slowed down, only buying 20 or so a year, and try not to upgrade from DVD to BD. I guess that still makes me a degenerate.
