No big deal, I guess, as it should show up in a future sale but it kind of seems more compelling to me at the moment compared to anything I actually did order

Almost tempted to make a small second order...but I know I'd probably regret it.

I happened to catch, completely by chance, The Purple Plain on TCM a few years ago and immediately fell in love with it. I ordered it on DVD, but when Kino Lorber released it on Blu, I bought it immediately. In fact, I fell for it so hard that I bought an original theatrical one sheet for it AND ended up buying a 16mm print of it as well.

If you're looking for a kick-ass war movie, this one isn't going to really satisfy you...but if you're looking for a meditation on loss and redemption that just happens to be set during wartime, I think that you'll find it to be an unjustly overlooked semi-classic. And, as I've said before several times, the film has probably the most emotionally perfect ending of any movie that I've ever seen.

Make a second order; you won't regret it.

My movies actually arrived yesterday. So it took roughly 8 days to arrive. Not too bad I guess for free shipping.

Any Canadians that have ordered through them? Sounds like they use FedEx and I don't want to end up with BS border charges.

I wrestled with it, and found another five or six titles, mostly spaghetti Westerns I wouldn't mind seeing too, but in the end couldn't justify it.

Too much else dropping over the next couple weeks that I'm already committed to.

Kino has sales pretty regularly, with I know one in October (with hopefully the Kolchak titles), and one almost certain for BF- so I'll just have to push it aside till then.

Definitely a film that's sitting at the top of the "to get" list now.

Probably too late with this reply, but I've had a couple of orders from them shipped to Canada over the years, albeit by accident because I selected the wrong shipping address from my list. Both were small-ish orders, and didn't get hit with customs charges. I'd imagine I was just lucky, though. Those charges are frustratingly random. Most parcels I order into Canada (mostly from Europe and HK; all U.S. stuff goes to my American addresses) are fine, but the fees are insane for the ones that do get nailed.

Thanks Brian.

I still have time, but I think I'll wait.

I was only looking to pre-order Trilogy of Terror, but it looks like it's going to be available on amazon Canada. At least the DVD is already listed. Just have to make sure I pre-order it immediately, as they seem to have a decent price when first listed.

As it is, on the KL site, it's going to be $18 and another $8 to ship. So $26US with the potential for border charges. The DVD is currently $20CAN, so I'll wait and see for the BD.

Figured I might as well post my little haul. I'm kinda shocked and ashamed at just how much of the KLSC catalog I've picked up over the years, but if nothing else, it allowed me to stick to $5.99 - $6.99 range, mostly titles I've seen previously or owned on DVD plus a couple of blind buys. Everything shipped the same day I ordered, and arrived about two days later (U.S. address):

The High Commissioner - aka Nobody Runs Forever (Blu-ray) $6.99
Highway Dragnet (1954) (Blu-ray) $6.99
The Internecine Project (Blu-ray) $6.99
(wish they'd ported over all the extras on this one, but the writer interview they retained was probably the best of them anyway)
The Optimists (Blu-ray) $5.99
For Love of Ivy (Blu-ray) $6.99

Blind buys:
The Unholy Four (Blu-ray) $6.99
Freeway (Blu-ray) $6.99
Beachhead (Blu-ray) $6.99

Really lame horror sale on at the moment. The 4 or 5 titles that interest me are $15-$18. Pass.

Any update on this? I don't see anything on Kino's website or Facebook page.

I just went through the entire new sale. Studio classics only; nothing I can't live without at the pricing which I didn't think was all that great.

yeah, prices seem less buyer-friendly than the last as I don't see any 5.99 titles.

re: Kino Lorber & KL Studio Classics sales, discounts, and deals

This one's far from their worst sale, and the selection is pretty good even if I've long had most of the stuff I wanted from the label. There were just enough new releases of older titles I've been wanting to check off my viewing list for decades to make a purchase worthwhile:

Gold (Roger Moore) $8.99
Good Times $8.99
Jack the Giant Killer (SE) $9.99
Making Contact (1985) $8.99
Manhattan Project $8.99
Smashing Time $7.99
The Reincarnation of Peter Proud (SE) (Blu-ray) $9.99
Kill, Baby...Kill! $11.99

I liked it, too. There may not be any ~$6 titles, but then there aren't many ~$12+ titles either. All Blu:

Cabin Boy (Special Edition) $9.99
The Covered Wagon $9.99
Jack the Giant Killer (Special Edition) $9.99
The Satan Bug $9.99
Scavenger Hunt $8.99
Under Capricorn (Special Edition) $10.99
