If you don't have it yet, there is 1 major score: The Ida Lupino indie box for $60. I bought them individually on sale & paid more.
the Ida Lupino set has been available for as little as $23 on eBay (not right now) and I am beside myself for not getting it at that price. $30 is still a good price

Now that you mention it, I vaguely remember seeing that after I'd already bought a couple separately. IMO, this is worth picking up; though keep in mind it is NOT her major studio work; but consists of films made by her under the umbrella of her husband's production company. I'm glad I have it; they are all decent films imo.

$60 was a typo. I had a "minor concussion" in 2013. All the symptoms have gone away, but one: accurate typing never came back. I also still occasionally think of one word (example "Orange" & type something that has nothing to do with it (example could be "machine").

Really sucks. It was a car wreck. The insurance company was actually pissed that I didn't spend their money on a concussion test, bu no one bothered to tell me until well after the fact. Apparently they mistakenly believed that Urgent care would know to do the testing. They didn't. It's embarrassing. My spelling (on a keyboard) has gone to hades as well.

Is it just me, or are Kino's sale prices slowly creeping upwards?

For the last year or so, their sale prices are generally about $2 more than they were previously. On the other hand, this time around they've included some new releases at slightly lower prices.

Wish there was a way to sort by price. I am $1.05 away from free shipping. Been scrolling endlessly trying to find something we want that we don't have that isn't higher price than we'd be willing to pay.

Agreed, though I wish there were a few ways to sort things. You might try looking back at their "While Supplies Last" sale, -some of the prices have dropped further, and I found one item I passed over before and I changed my mind on, which helped me hit the 50...

I agree with Dwilson, use the while supplies sale and try to find something cheap as a filler to hit the FS threshold. I can never find enough to buy on that sale to hit the FS minimum. But now with the Shocktober sale it's pretty easy. My problem is now having too many titles.

Friendly reminder Kino Lorber Studio Classics will have a Noirvember sale that starts in the next few days. I'm waiting on this one to start before doing any other purchasing.

The December sale is starting from either tomorrow or Thursday. As an aside, please make it stop. Too many sales going on at this point.

My living room is literally wall to wall dvd & blu-ray racks on 3+ walls. I've given up on space, but I'm running out of money.

And I also have a music addiction................. The cd's take up an entire bedroom + I have 9 hard drives with music files & 2 with film files.

re: Kino Lorber & KL Studio Classics sales, discounts, and deals

The Canadian site, unobstructedview.com currently has a KL sale on. Most titles are 50% off. They also just finished another Criterion 40% off sale.

I picked up (hopefully!):

Broken Flowers (Special Edition) $18.63
Crooklyn $18.63
Mo' Better Blues $18.63
Jungle Fever $18.63
That'll Be the Day $16.94

All on Blu-Ray. Prices as shown are in $CDN and also include tax, but exclude $3.50 shipping.

Not stunning prices, but considering they're all usually >$30 on amazon.ca, I was pretty happy with them.

Sounds like you have a shopping addiction. Take a long extended break from this. Enjoy the movies you already have.

I got an email from Kino about their sale, but I’m not going to force myself to spend money on stuff I don’t really need. I’m passing as well.

I wish I had your restraint. I probably won't buy anything as well since the only thing I really want is Diva and don't feel like spending $50+ just to hit the FS threshold. But I'll look and see what's on sale.

Saw their emails for these. The Criterion pricing was still a bit steep compared to the American deals, even factoring in exchange rates at any given time – I see no reason why Canada can't have a true 50% off sale as well – but the Kino discs were at least a little closer to reality considering what it would cost to ship a batch up here from the U.S. during one of Kino's sales these days. I did that back during their summer sale and got 15 discs for about $14 each after shipping (@ $30US) plus exchange.

Free shipping on orders over $100 according to the Kino e-blast they sent out. Not sure that applied to your order, but if you cancel and re-order you could add a cheap disc or two. Their 'bargain bin' pages are mostly crap, but the cult and (to a lesser degree) horror sections do have some super-cheap $6.00 Synapse discs that can make good cart filler. Pickings have gotten slim since the summer, but there's still some good oddball stuff to pick from. EDIT: scratch that; looks like the prices are starting to go back up.

Despite their being located in a non-descript business park here in North York, I do like that Unobstructed View has rather quickly established relations with most of the U.S. boutique labels, so hopefully they'll be able to leverage that into better sale pricing as time goes on. My Vinegar Syndrome BF order included a notice that the items would ship from Canada for only $10, and I'm betting UO will be involved in that.

I wish I had noticed the $100 threshold. I was certain that I tried it, but it didn't show up. My orders would've been about $81 before tax. I would've had to add another $19 to my order but that would've saved $17 or so in shipping, so would've been worth it. I'd certainly rather get $17 in product.

I don't want to do any cancelling and re-ordering, as 3 of the 5 I've ordered now show out of stock, so I couldn't re-order at the discount price (That's why I said 'hopefully' in my original post). They allowed backorders for Criterion, this time around, but apparently not for KL.

I agree that the CC sale not being 50% off is a bummer, but at least it's still a good savings for Canada. Overall, I'm mostly happy with them. Their customer service could improve re: shipping times and response to issues, but I imagine they're a small company and just overwhelmed.

I've probably said this too many times, but the sale pricing at Kino ain't what it used to be (& neither is the transfer quality).
