Barnes & Noble Criterion 50% Off MSRP Sale June 29 through August 6, 2018
Barnes & Noble Criterion 50% Off MSRP Sale
June 29 through August 6, 2018 CRITERION 50% OFF SALE Looks like yet another set of dates have been decided for the official sale and online prices should start going live sometime tonight. One of the banners still says July 30th which was the original rumor, but it appears that Aug 6 is the official date. Most individual items already have NO COUPON language in the description so this appears to be the new normal though I guess In-store can always have a different set of rules Sale is Online (bn.com) and In-store Barnes & Noble for those stores with Media Departments All current release DVD and Blurays should be included. Items releasing before Aug 6th should be discounted. |

Re: Barnes & Noble Criterion 50% Off MSRP Sale June 29 through August 6, 2018
Of course I get a 10% off order coupon in my e-mail this morning that EXCLUDES this sale.
I bought 1 title last year and will probably do the same again. I used to buy 5-6 titles when the coupons worked. |

..you're better off waiting a while and getting it cheaper from a 3rd party seller on ebay..

Re: Barnes & Noble Criterion 50% Off MSRP Sale June 29 through August 6, 2018
I sort of wish there was something I wanted. There hasn't been a lot lately that appeals to me, and the few that have I picked up through other sales. Maybe next year.
Anyone have recommendations from the past year's worth or so of releases that I may be overlooking? Not just a good film (most all of them are that), but something worth paying CC type money in order to own as a blind buy? I'm not a completist (I own probably 50 or 60 CC tiles now), but I am willing to broaden my scope within reason. |
Re: Barnes & Noble Criterion 50% Off MSRP Sale June 29 through August 6, 2018
Nothing urgent right now, but for the next sale, Andrei Rublev will be mine.

I have a giftcard that's been burning a hole in my wallet.

Re: Barnes & Noble Criterion 50% Off MSRP Sale June 29 through August 6, 2018
Went ahead and pickup up Silence of the Lambs and Othello.
I was actually kind of surprised I didn't already have the non-Criterion version of Silence already, so that was an easy one. Othello I had previously considered but it is pricy even for a Criterion. But it qualified me for the free shipping so that makes it OK. |

My wife and I only picked up a handful this time, since we're still working through a backlog and know we're going back in July anyway. Round 1:

Going the same route. Got a whole bunch of Criterion BDs from a bluray.com trader for $9-$10 a pop, so no point in shelling out big bucks for these, specially without a coupon. And yeah, plenty on eBay too, like with today's 15% and the recent 20% off coupons as well. No wonder, B&N is holding this sale for a longer duration.
These days I usually choose MOC/Eureka, or for less important to me titles Kino when they run a sale. |

Never seen any of those films before, and the pre-release hype from fans has me eager to check at least one of the films out immediately. Today I picked up Tom Jones Virgin Spring Virgin Suicides Passion Of Joan of Arc I was pleasantly surprised the cashier (a younger girl) let me use one of the snail mail coupons I got the other day. Averaged out to a $1 off per film, but what the hell. I'll take it. Would love for that to be the case Tuesday when Dietrich & Von Sternberg drops, but I won't expect it. |

In store today I noticed they just had the single disc release. Odd. I haven't watched Jimi or Otis yet, but I had a blast with the main film. Was never big on concert videos/films, but I greatly enjoyed this one. |

I think it was in a keepcase too, though I might be mistaken on that part. I just checked and Amazon has the Complete set for $35. According to Deep Discount, this has a $70 msrp- so 50% off at Amazon if anyone wants it (the two disc set is $28). |

Is 50% the best B&N does for Criterion?
