Shout Factory Summer of Fear Sale - June 4-18

New sale from Shout. Not overly impressed with the prices (Misery, for example, was about $4 cheaper at Walmart for ages), but maybe there's something here for someone. Title mix changes June 11. Email blast only mentioned "scorching deals on shipping", but no mention of "free":

I picked up Colossus: The Forbin Project for $15.99. The site says '...Free Standard Shipping On All Orders Over $50', but when I checked out my shipping (standard) was free. I did check out using Amazon Pay. My receipt email from Shout! showed my shipping cost as $0.00. So...YMMV. I'm not complaining.

Fwiw, there is also a MST3K sale going on, where they automatically take 20 percent off those items.

Wow, they suck at saving themselves money on shipping. I ordered 5 BDs, three with the exclusive posters. They arrived today, in 4 separate packages. 3 long boxes that held the BD and a poster tube, with some packing material, and the 2 other BDs in a separate box much bigger than it needed to be. All 5 BDs and 3 posters could have fit in one box easily.

The first couple years or so of this sale they had some pretty good deals. This sale is very meh. The only titles I haves some interest in that I don't have are Land of the Dead and Teen Wolf Too.

Tend to agree. I think Amazon meets or beats many of these. Too bad really, because I like ordering directly from places like this.

They are close to just giving away their version of Mad Max.

Its not even so much the prices for me. I feel like the titles on sale are mostly not that great personally. There’s a couple here and there but a lot of them seem like their less popular releases to me. In the past it seemed like a better mixture.

Yeah, I was hoping for some solid titles, but these offerings on a "sale" are border-line insulting. They should do a 10 for $100 or something. I'd bite and buy all of those titles at that price, just for the hell of watching them on a weekend impulse or something, but at those prices, I'm not gonna bite.

I still don't understand how Amazon, and even Best Buy, can sell them cheaper than the company putting them out.

Scale of operations. A gazillion packages per shipment truck/plane, giant warehouses with robots picking and packing, bulk shipping discounts from shipping companies, own fulfillment/shipment trucks to name a few
