I think some stores are strategically pulling back from offering media sales on Black Friday, so the event isn't monumental like it once was for us.

Outside of Best Buy, I don't think Target or Walmart put much effort into their mix of discs. Walmart seems to carry the unsold overstock of unpopular b-movies as their Black Friday line-up, while Target offered Stranger Things for cheap and basically nothing else.

Target definitely had fewer titles and fewer quantities than 2016, at least based on the two stores I hit up. I think they did very well with Stanger Things. Though they had tons of copies folks were definitely buying and talking about it while doing so. Good move putting it on the front page of the ad. Their selection of kids animation titles was pretty good too, I purchased several of the $6 Illumination titles as gifts.

But yeah, even 3 Walmarts I checked had fewer quantities this year compared to last with a lot of the same titles.
Glad that Best Buy had a great selection of deals and that I was able to get everything online again (took way too long again this year with the site failure) but I can't remember the last year I went to a BB store on BF, been at least 4-5 years. I almost stoped at one Thursday night because I still wanted Elf for $4, which I forgot to order, but it was after 11pm so I just went home. I ended up with 24 BD/DVD items purchased, probably the first year in a decade where I wasn't over 30.

My wife and I went to Walmart late on Friday. The store wasn't too crowded, but there were a good number of people digging through the very disorganized/picked-over movie shippers. While we did grab a couple of titles from the shippers, the funny thing to me was that we could casually stroll over to the regular DVD/Blu-Ray shelves and easily pick up door buster/Black Friday titles that were marked full price but were actually discounted. We would scan to verify that these titles were in fact discounted. One other couple saw us doing this and began quietly doing the same. So while the masses were debating titles like "Alice in Wonderland" and "American Sniper," we were grabbing "Cars 3" and "Wonder Woman" on Blu. Yes, I felt stupidly superior.
