And you still get the entire catalog of those titles...

Best way: On the main page just select "Blu Rays" on the top menu, then check "Price Cut" in the "Price Range" area on the left of the screen, and then the "Refine Search" button. Works every time.

Re: Hamilton Book (Blu-ray Bargains)

Per Goldenwheels on bluray.com the march 6th drop will feature Arrow titles in similiarity to the sale currently on diabolikdvd right now. I'm paraphrasing his comments there but that was the main point I think.

Re: Hamilton Book (Blu-ray Bargains)

Indeed. I’m in for one (at least) just to flip it up here! And woe be to anyone who pays full price for Volume 2, as cool as it is. It’s apparent that these are not the big sellers they figured they’d be, or that the YouTube review armies have proclaimed. I’m also tempted by the VS Made In Hong Kong set, but I’m reasonably convinced that it will be cheaper during a future sale at the VS site, and it doesn’t seem to be moving great numbers just yet. Definitely loading up on a bunch of those Arrows. Had a few in my cart at Diabolik last week at $16.99 each until I saw the earlier posts here about Hamilton’s new batch. That’s a nice savings.

Me, just recently: I need to cut back on movie buying, especially for blind buys
Me just now: Well I can't pass up on Shawscope at that price, even though I've never watched much kung fu

Same. Though I will be now! (Although I'll be glad to add Mighty Peking Man to my collection.)

You'll love it. There are a ton of terrific movies in there, but The Five Venoms and Crippled Avengers are probably my two favorites. I'm halfway through volume 2 and really enjoying it, but it doesn't have quite the same magic as the first set, and there are some outright lousy movies (for my tastes, anyway).

I was addicted to this stuff growing up, but vol. 1 probably had more kung fu movies than I'd watched in the decade prior.

Re: Hamilton Book (Blu-ray Bargains)

I wonder if that could be a factor in the sales of these sets and the various singles. Shaw Brothers films may have crossed the threshold into obsolescence, with even a lot of people who grew up watching them (including me) having been spoiled by the fantastic evolution of action cinema in the decades since. They're no less important in context, but some of them do feel hopelessly dusty now. I do wonder if Arrow feels somewhat locked in -- even stuck -- producing volumes 3 and 4 now. I'm sure they'll be no less meticulous, but I can't imagine more and more people just waiting for borderline clearance pricing. I got Volume 1 for a pretty low price by waiting, but clearly I could've held off longer. Getting one in this sale and flipping it should at least offset the price paid on the earlier one.

I wonder if Arrow adjusted production numbers of Shawscope Volumes 2 based on sales of the first one. It's possible that holding out for a bargain price on that one might not work... --Peter

Re: Hamilton Book (Blu-ray Bargains)

I don't really buy movies much anymore but I bought the Ronin Arrow Video blu-ray that was up here last year and it's so, so good. This time around, I ended up buying WAY too many Arrow releases today. I even went with UHD options when available, but stopped short of anything over $25. I don't really care much about steelbooks but these will look really nice.

19.95 Tremors UHD+BR Steelbook
19.95 Wild Things UHD
24.95 True Romance UHD+BR Steelbook
24.95 Dune UHD+BR Steelbook
9.95 Creepshow 2 BR
14.95 Flatliners UHD
11.95 Mallrats BR
11.95 Mary Shelley's Frankenstein BR
11.95 Ringu BR

There's one Arrow release that I really, really want and I can't find for a reasonable price: The Stuff. Wow, did we love watching that as kids! How often does Arrow bring titles back into print?

Re: Hamilton Book (Blu-ray Bargains)

Purchased a bunch of Arrow titles also, from the lower-end $11.95 batch:

- SNAKE GIRL & THE WHITE HAIRED WITCH
- MAJOR DUNDEE
- VERSUS
- FRANKENSTEIN
- PHANTOM OF THE MALL
- SAILOR SUIT & MACHINE GIRL
- NIGHTMARE AT NOON
- HELL HIGH
- GIRLS NITE OUT (looks like this went OOS?)
- DEATH SCREAMS

- YOKAI MONSTERS box
- SHAWSCOPE box

Plus eight other DVDs and Blu-rays that have been sitting in my cart for a few weeks waiting for some decent stock to justify a purchase.

That's always a possibility, but I'm comfortable waiting for now, or until someone uncovers evidence of a smaller production run. Volumes 3 and 4, assuming those are still going forward, may be a different story, though.

Re: Hamilton Book (Blu-ray Bargains)

Went back for the Shaw Brothers set. I couldn’t resist that price and I’m definitely interested in volume 2, so I figured I needed the first.
I just realized Tourist Trap is under $8, but I’m not making a third order

Oh, a few reasons. Not as much time to watch movies these days, my idea of a fair price isn't what it used to be, there's less out there that I feel the need to watch whenever I want as often as I want. Some of the usual.

And, when we're trying to pay the bills, buying movies like True Romance or any of the above just feels a bit self-indulgent. The only one who gets something out of that is me. My happiness counts, but we usually have to save up for stuff, including bills, so the money I spent at Hamilton this time around was very out of the norm for me.

A varied response. I love movies, and my buying habits gave changed.

Re: Hamilton Book (Blu-ray Bargains)

Is EHB starting to clear out carts that are older than a specifc period ? I had about 15 titles IIRC in my cart from a couple of months ago, logged in today to see an empty cart. The other explanation is that all 15 titles may have gone OOS but that seems to be a bit far fetched.

I have 3 that have been sitting for a while. Might you have accidentally cleared your cookies? That could do it.
