Criterion.com 24Hr Flash Sale Oct 17 Noon ET

Taking a leap of faith, but timing is right. I'm looking to confirm the sale which I'm not having a lot of luck yet.
Apparently the Criterion.com Fall Flash sale is to start at Noon ET Tuesday.

PROMO Code -- [B] COOP [B] -- in the past the code has been case sensitive

Normally this is slated for 24 hrs though it often ends up lasting a bit longer - a few minutes to several hours depending on demand and if the server crashes enough time (Soccer Penalty Time)

50% off MSRP (not current/normal price) all instock movies -- DVD, BD, Eclipse

Free Shipping at $50. I don't think Criterion has done international orders other than Canada.

New releases included. Preorders almost never are allowed.
Normally items go out of stock and backorders aren't taken, but the last few sales some items return to stock several times.

Criterion Loyalty program -- $50Gift Cert for every cumulative purchase of $500 even if it takes 5 years. In the past those loyal rewards certs are sent via email almost immediately and are eligible for immediate use.

If you are close to $500 and have enough total items, I'd suggest making an order just big enough to qualify for the Loyalty Cert plus FS, then make another $50+ order with the extra money rather than make one large order and then have to wait 6 months for the next flash sale though the GC/Rewards don;t expire. You can load them into your account and the $$$ will be there next sale.

EDIT: As noted below it appears Criterion got antsy and jumped the gun starting things early. I checked a few random titles and everything I put into my cart reduced with the Promo code so it appears to be full game on

Rebecca
Sid & Nancy
Barry Lyndon
The Lure
The Piano Teacher

Sometimes they include the following week's release, so I thought I might be able to get Personal Shopper too. But it didn't work. I'll get that at B&N since I have some gift cards.

The last few times it was maybe around 11:45 or so... this was definitely earlier than normal.

They will add the countdown clock soon I assume. It isn't LIVE live yet. I guess they activated it before they put up the sale skin.

Re: Criterion.com 24Hr Flash Sale Oct 17 Noon ET

Totally confused! Went directly to site and my check-out page told me that "coop" was not a valid code. Went through the link in your last post, the site had the countdown running with big letters stating the code is "coop". After placing a pair of blu-rays in my cart, I was again told that coop was not a valid code! What's up?

Hmmm...

Lost in America
Barry Lyndon

I need one more. How is Rebecca? I've never seen it but understand it's not a very Hitchcockian movie by Hitchcock. And I'm not a fan of dated costume dramas - though I do love my Hitchcock films.

I think Rebecca is great. And I would consider it required Hitchcock.

Are you missing some other newer release?

Noticed that too, but when you go to checkout, the discount is off the MSRP. Was hopeful there for a moment . . .

It is a dated costume drama, but it has excellent performances and a haunting quality that makes it well worth seeing.

"Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again..."

The award-winning cinematography along with Judith Anderson's portrayal as Mrs. Danvers make this a highly recommended choice.

I picked up Rebecca, The Lodger, Classic Hitchcock, and Cat People.

Almost certainly. Their list of New Releases is only 16 titles long, and there's no way to sort their Blu Ray list by release date.

If you click the drop-down list box and sort by "spine" that will help some. Of course while it doesn't properly sort (by release date) some of the older catalog releases such as "Sid & Nancy," it would help someone realize a new release such as "Rumble Fish."

Re: Criterion.com 24Hr Flash Sale Oct 17 Noon ET

The only title I can think of that I want is Fire Walk with Me....and in wake of Breakfast Club being released this January, I'll sit this one out until the one that's usually in Feb/March. I try to always make the Free shipping threshold and that would require three titles. I don't mind blind buying one, but two is a bit to ask.

I think The Lure was great. The other thing I noticed is that VUDU and Amazon are selling the digital HD version, as well. VUDU has it for $19.99 and Amazon has it for $14.99 -- barebones, I believe.
