Screen Archives clearout: Code Red + Scorpion DVDs (and some Blu)
Not really a "sale", per se. More of a clear-out of "limited stock" according to their email blast. Mostly Code Red discs, only three Scorpion titles. Also, discounted discs are mostly DVDs, but since a couple of OOP (I think?) Code Red Blu's are included (Terminal Island, Working Girls, Group Marriage) at $13.95 - $16.95, I figured it's safe to park it here as well as in the DVD Bargains forum. Most of the DVDs appear to be OOP as well, and with prices ranging from $1.95 to $7.95 () they were kinda hard to pass up.

It's amazing how many obscure cult and niche exploitation films have hit Blu-ray. Given their market potential, it has to be the most mined genre on the format.

Frankly, there are far too many that really don't justify the upgrade, but I suppose these niche companies know than fans will keep shelling out.

As you sort of implied, the pricing probably balances out or, depending on which titles one buys, actually improves on that $5.00 sale of old.
Ordered these a few days back:
$1.95 - MEAN JOHNNY BARROWS
$1.95 - STIGMA
$1.95 - VOICES FROM BEYOND
$1.95 - DEATH JOURNEY
$2.95 - A DAY AT THE BEACH
$2.95 - POINT OF TERROR
$2.95 - RUNNING HOT
$2.95 - GHOST KEEPER
$3.95 - CHALLENGE THE DRAGON / THE NEEDLE AVENGER
$3.95 - THE BEING / COP KILLERS
$3.95 - THE POWER
$4.95 - DELIVER US FROM EVIL / THE FOX AFFAIR
$5.95 - WACKY TAXI / SUPERARGO
$5.95 - TRIP WITH THE TEACHER / JAILBAIT BABYSITTER
$6.95 - DANDY
$6.95 - GOLD OF THE AMAZON WOMEN
$6.95 - SWINGING SKIGIRLS / SHE'S 19 AND READY
$6.95 - STANLEY
$6.95 - ESCAPE TO PASSION / THE DIRTIEST GAME IN THE WORLD / I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU NOT
$7.95 - DERBY
$7.95 - DEAD PIT (2 DISC)
$7.95 - CLASS OF '74 / GABRIELLA, GABRIELLA
$7.95 - THE BABYSITTER / THE TOPLESS STORY
I actually own, or have owned, many of these from other distributors over the years (many from various sub-par 10-packs and 20-packs from companies like BCI and Mill Creek), so I grabbed these versions mainly for the better transfers and bonus features. On the plus side, Code Red and Scorpion discs have never officially been distributed in Canada as far as I know, and the prices they now fetch on Amazon Marketplace are ridiculously high, so I'm confident I'll recoup my investment here (another key reason for buying these) if I decide not to permanently add these too my collection

Re: Screen Archives clearout: Code Red + Scorpion DVDs (and some Blu)
I'd like to place an order (never ordered from Screen Archives before) but the shipping charge is pretty ridiculous ($22 for 12 discs). I don't see anything about free shipping at a certain level, and codes that I tried from retailmenot didn't work. Any suggestions?

They DO offer the option of choosing between First Class shipping (which sounds like what Mitch is seeing) and the cheaper Media Mail shipping when you go to the final "review & confirm" page. Granted, it's not free, but considering how cheap (and in most cases, out of print) these discs are, media mail shipping doesn't actually up the per-disc price that badly.

Thanks Brian. I guess the reason I didn't notice the other shipping option is because it's not a typical drop-down menu. At the final stage of check-out, there's a line next to the shipping charge asking if you'd like to switch to media mail. I did and saved about $8.50. Thanks again.
