Re: Barnes & Noble Criterion Sale 2017!

What time do these sales typically go live?

Any idea why the VACATION code would work on a couple items in my cart but not on "Blood Simple"?

Re: Barnes & Noble Criterion Sale 2017!

I get the same message, too. It worked fine for "Yi Yi" and "Ghost World. But, of course, there's no indication that it will work during the sale.

Edited to add that the vacation code isn't working, but titles are slowly being updated to its sale price.

Re: Barnes & Noble Criterion Sale 2017!

Ordered:

Straw Dogs
Stalker
Ghost World

VACATION code did work for Ghost World ($4 off), but didn't apply to the other two titles.

Does Amazon price match Barnes and Nobles sale?

VACATION worked on:

It didn't work on any other in my wishlist.

C3M9W9M is working on Yi Yi, but the price has not been adjusted down to $19.99.

Re: Barnes & Noble Criterion Sale 2017!

Ordered Tampopo with C3M9W9M. Took $5.00 off.

Code also works with Being There, Ghost World, Blow Up, Multiple Maniacs, Canoa. There might be a few more titles it works with, but I didn't check em all.

Very hit or miss with the 5/10 code, but for now it's still working on a decent number.

Scorscese and Marseille boxset working with VACATION and Mailer 20% code

Re: Barnes & Noble Criterion Sale 2017!

Tried VACATION on an order with four titles. It only took $4 off.

The C3M9W9M code only worked on Ghost World, not Rumble Fish or Straw Dogs- But I was able to use it twice (second time was for a Warner Archive title).

Wasn't expecting to use any coupons this sale, so even getting $5 off is nice surprise.
Will be hitting the store when they open at 9 to pick up those other two and maybe a couple more.

Have to wait till the end of the sale to see about getting Stalker and Lost In America. I don't foresee making more than two trips this sale though.

Any ideas why neither version of "Tokyo Drifter" is discounted? (Online, I mean.)

Not a good reason except there seems to be a lot more titles that didn't switch by 2am than usual. It's certainly taken quite a few hours in the past though at least the last year or two the switchover to the sale has been a little better.

The only good think I can think of is it seems to have left quite a few items eligible for coupons than really should have been. Though not much help if the item you want hasn't flipped

Re: Barnes & Noble Criterion Sale 2017!

in store as soon as they opened this morning and picked up the following

Short Cuts
Gilda
Blow Up
Straw Dogs
Chimes At Midnight
Rumble Fish

Gilda and Short Cuts were complete impulse purchases. May go back and grab Dr Strangelove and Cat People.
Otherwise I'll be waiting for the end of the month to pick up Lost in America and Stalker and that'll do it for me for this one.

Re: Barnes & Noble Criterion Sale 2017!

BTW, if you can't find a title at the B&N site (Rossellini's War Trilogy Blu-ray isn't coming up for me), Amazon is selling the same titles for a few dollars more. I'm using the Amazon Assistant in Chrome and it showed me their prices when I was at B&N. Also, the 50% link is glitching.

Re: Barnes & Noble Criterion Sale 2017!

Had six discs -- all recent releases -- in the cart with an $11.99 'VACATION' discount. Found that deleting two of them (Stalker and Lodger) didn't effect the discount, so I'm assuming they're not included due to being too recent or pre-order only? No biggie, as those two will be just enough to net me another $50 gift certificate at the next Flash Sale.

Preorders rarely are allowed. Some of the older titles are allowed, some aren;t and there doesn't seem to be much rhyme/reason.

I guess since none are supposed to be allowed, it's hard to argue when some are.

I'm assuming you didn't try any coupons to see if they would work -- there are 3 printable store 15% plus those members that get mailer 20% and some of the new Member Welcome Coupons in the DVD Bargain/BN Coupon thread wiki

If they work in store I'll copy teh Coupon Wiki into this thread. If they've going to be blocked it's probably not worth the 10 seconds it would take.

Re: Barnes & Noble Criterion Sale 2017!

Usually the location I go to I get a manager in the mornings and I hate trying to use any coupons with her.
Ironically, it wasn't her today, but the one guy who ALWAYS lets me use a coupon (or even more than one if they are different).

But at this point, I just didn't care. I may go back and try it (and then return the original purchase), but IDK. I already got $5 off online, so I'm still a little ahead the way I figure it.

Re: Barnes & Noble Criterion Sale 2017!

C3M9W9M worked on Ghost World, but on nothing else I wanted.

No combination of discs I wanted were eligible to bump the total up above $60, which is when VACATION goes from 10% to 15%. Since I have a membership and a local store, there wasn't really any advantage for using the coupon on just 10%.

Re: Barnes & Noble Criterion Sale 2017!

Whatever loopholes were working on online coupons now seemed to be gone. Things that were working 30 minutes ago are now "not eligible."

In store - first reports aren't promising though one person said his 20% mailers worked (another person said not). The one's that worked this morning were a coupon of the boxsets that were still working online though so I'm betting that is now dead since those boxset are discounting online now

Re: Barnes & Noble Criterion Sale 2017!

Instore so far mostly poor results

The only coupon that seems to always work is the Member $5 off $50 like it always has. No fuss, no beeps, no issues so far.
