Re: It's Another DeepDiscount 15% sale

I almost bit on Mr Deeds & these 2:

Noir Archive 9-Film Collection: Volume 1: 1944-1954

Noir Archive 9-Film Collection: Volume 2: 1954-1956

But I think I want to wait for the Noir's to drop in price a little more (Kit Parker's; I ASSUME they're pressed).

Deeds has also gone way up, but I have the same editions on dvd, so not the end of the world. Hopefully our next gvt will lose the internet sales tax..........

Re: It's Another DeepDiscount 15% sale

The Noir Collections are pressed - assuming Vol 3 will be as well.

The likelihood of reversing the sales tax I'd say is so close to zero as to be immeasurable

Thanx for confirming that they are pressed. If I remember right, I think this board has a no politics rule, so on tax I'll just state that you are probably correct.

"Mr Deeds" is still available at 5.88, -you have to select the "Anniversary" edition. There's another edition that's much higher.

Re: It's Another DeepDiscount 15% sale

There is absolutely zero chance we are going backwards on internet sales tax. The reality is that local retail is dying before our eyes and state governments have no intention of giving up sales tax revenue. They've simply shifted the burden from local retailers to national retailers outside state boundaries to make up the difference. Move to one of the five tax-free states if that is an issue.

I got that also, thanx! I'm going to grab the Flicker Alley Salome due to the sale price. The sales tax is still a killer, & I'm not thrilled with paying $17 for a burned disc, but it's the best price I've been able to find.

Re: It's Another DeepDiscount 15% sale

FALL15 is a new 15% code that expires September 18 at 11:00 am EST.

I also stumbled upon what I think is a pricing mistake if anyone wants to jump on it.
Toy Story 4 UHD $22.99, Blu-ray $21.78. $19.54/18.51 for a new high-profile Disney release is pretty good.

Set 1 and 2 are pressed BD's from Mill Creek via Kit Parker's work. Overall pretty nice sets given the limitations and budgets. Obviously fairly wide variation in the quality of the films, but i haven't
heard too many issues with the discs themselves other than the usual BitRate worriers
I don't have set 3, but I;'m 90% sure they are the same.

?? you mean they're charging you more than you pay locally or they just now add your normal tax to your orders.

As far as I know Deep discount now collects Sales Tax in all tax that have sales tax. The County/City local tax surcharges obviously complicate things, but i think they
use the zip code information in the Tax Database. That hasn't always been 100 accurate since there are some addresses even in the same zip code that have different local tax rules.

No, it's now up to what I pay locally. Previously with the tax, the 15% discount was about 11%, -now it's about 5.5%. It just makes impulse buying less of a thing, -after picking out a couple of things, I just decided to clear my cart and skip this coupon.

I checked yesterday's order after you mentioned that. It appears they charged tax on the PRE COUPON amount; & at around 8.5% it makes no sense at all. It would be around 9.3 if they had charged the same amount on post coupon. "The (my city & state), general sales tax rate is 10.2%. The combined rate used in this calculator (10.2%) is the result of the state rate (6.5%), & the city tax rate (3.7%)."

That isn't true -- or at least not for everyone. The Sales Tax is applied after the coupon discount for most people who have posted invoices

Subtotal$30.35
Promo Code: TRICKRTREAT15($4.55)
Standard Shipping$0.00
Sales Tax$1.74 (6.75%)
Total$27.54

If it was tax on the precoupon amt the sales tax would be 2.05
(30.35-4.55) = 25.80 * 0.0675 = 1.74

I ran the same cart with a generic Seattle Zip code and tax 10.1% and the Sale tax was $2.61 (again based on $25.80 price)

I'm not sure what's going on with your order without seeing the number and knowing you local sales tax rules. I doubt WA would have a law that states sales tax has to be applied to a pre-coupon discount, but I do
know states have different rules on how/where to apply sales tax on Manufacturers Coupons. DD's cart also gets confused if you start adding and subtracting items after the Code is applied so you have to add the code again
or at least refresh the page. I think by the time you get to checkout submit page it fixed itself, but if you are running test carts you can get some strange numbers

You did mention earlier about places charging tax on the S/H charges and I've seen that on more than one place -- it appears DD computer is set up to calculate it that way.

As a retailer under the old laws, Wa state did expect me to charge tax on the s/h. I'm not overly familiar with the new system, as my on-line business is 95% dead; I just know it adds 6-11% to the price I pay as a consumer, depending on what implementation the retailer has chosen.
