Got 9 imports from the blowout bin last night with the CYBER15 coupon code. Hope those Aussie Umbrella releases are quality ones. Anyone with experience with that label ?

Certainly Madman/Umbrella is one of the bigger well known and respected AUS distributors along with ViaVision (much bigger than Random Space Media). Like most AUS labels, they are somewhat beholden to what the US studios give them and don't have much to do with encodes, supplements, etc. For AUS/NZ content they actually produced, they control much more of the quality and content

some of their products are very good, indeed. The Face behind the Mask the Silver Screams by Imprint are actually 2 of my favorite purchases this year. But I personally buy very selectively from those AUS companies, mainly due to their price and sometimes they get a cheaper US/UK version.

Just my 2 cents.

I have several of the Umbrella releases and are quite pleased with them. Of course it seems that every time I cave and pick one up a US release comes within a couple of months and costs less - usually from the exact same master.

Thank you all for your feedback on the Umbrella entertainment label. Glad to hear of +ve experiences. To hariseldon’s point, it appears that they are at the mercy of what’s handed to them by the studio. For e.g I couldn’t tell at all if Burt’s ‘The Rainmaker’ was the newer restoration that Kino is using for a stateside release. Maybe you can tell based on the date of release but that may not always work depending on when local distributors decide to license the title. Sometimes Blu-ray.com carries the press release, sometimes they don’t (learned from another forum member that the Umbrella release is NOT the newer restoration). You could also suspect based on the pricing (as to if retailers are dumping older inventory) but even that is not a sure shot. The Imprint release of ‘The Last Train on Gun hill’ was recently available for under $10 on DD while the Paramount Presents US release pricing stayed at $22.99 while the former was a chronologically later release and both were based on the newer restoration (perhaps the digital code also carries some pricing value)

All said and done, if these imports come from a reliable label, the blowout pricing is indeed a great value (especially with multiple movies on a single disc) made even better with the occasional coupon code. I am not personally a big fan of all the extras on a disc and perhaps licensing all those exclusive content also plays into the pricing. But the DD blowout bin has become a new favorite of mine (while also checking for their Blowitoutahere counterpart pricing on eBay). As to whether DD does fulfill the order, there’s an expectation that can go any which way regardless of product availability status

Depends on just what you're ordering. I frequently find decent prices on titles from them. Like anywhere, it pays to shop around and their prices, like everywhere else, fluctuate depending on sales, etc. I just keep a "wish list" and know what those prices normally are. If a wish list item's price has gone down during a sale I'll often order it - if not I won't.

I *do* agree about that "weight surcharge" on some titles - it's inconsistent and nonsensical. I've ordered sets containing *more* discs than another that has that shipping surcharge and the higher disc count set still shipped free.

For the past three weeks, the two dozen or so items in my wishlist have all been priced at MSRP. Even with a 10–15% off code, it's still cheaper at so many other places. Deep Discount should consider changing their business name.
