A spreadsheet detailing blu-rays and DVDs on sale for Black Friday

Thanks to StryderOmega from cheapassgamer.com, I wanted to share this useful spreadsheet for those who want to easily compare Black Friday Blu-ray and DVD sales across different stores. (Also included are video games.)

Very cool! I was actually creating a worksheet of stuff I intend to buy. This is a very nice reference worksheet.

Re: A spreadsheet detailing blu-rays and DVDs on sale for Black Friday

I went to Walmart's android app on 11/11 and they listed some $7 doorbusters that weren't on the online ad. These were listed only for one day so I can't point you to it now. Not sure if this was a mistake on their part, or if these are real deals, but am mentioning these anyhow.

Holiday Inn, $7 Walmart (Didn't see this one on sale anywhere else)
Deadpool, $7 Walmart ($1 cheaper than best buy)
Allegient, $7 Walmart
Star Trek Beyond, $7 Walmart (much cheaper than anywhere else).

Again, I know these are not on the official online ad, but distinctly remember these showing on the phone app because I wrote them down. Maybe they will have some other price points ($3.96 please?) in store that are not listed online?

Or else they changed their mind after the app was made.

Reference at your own risk.

Star Trek Beyond for $7 is fantastic deal.

I hope Walmart has fixed their website. It was awful last year.

Thanx to the op!

It is frustrating to me that the only BF sales seem to be recent low brow films. I'm mostly into classics, foreign, art house & concerts.

These are designed to get people in the door. Unfortunately, "Adam Sandler Farts the Alphabet" has a bigger draw than Ingmar Bergman's "Nordic People Cry About Death & Autumn."

It's always awful. I find it amazing that a company as large as WM has one of the slowest and worst designed sites. The search engine is pitiful and the overall design defies logic. The least amount of traffic brings it to a stand still. It makes some of the stupid design decisions at Amazon seem downright genius in comparison.

The list doesn't appear to be complete. Best Buy has a lot of titles listed for $8.99 that aren't on here:

Criminal
Roots
Last Witchhunter
War and Peace

... to name a few.

I hope there are more TV-on-BD sets on sale. The live-action DC superhero shows all have DVDs in the ads, but Blu-ray is nowhere to be found.

That had to be a lot of work, and thanks for doing it. But it looks like I'm staying home this BF. Hardly anything so interesting that I'd want to mess with the crowds. It's not exactly fun getting in that scrum. Just as well, I need to pinch my pennies these days.

I did not create this spreadsheet. I just took it from another user on cheapassgamer.com.

Re: A spreadsheet detailing blu-rays and DVDs on sale for Black Friday

Omega sent me this message:

Hello Ein,

You are very much welcome. I am glad you shared it with your other social group! Please forward them my regards, as I signed up to the website to do it myself, but there seems to be some kind of wait period after sign up. I have taken note of their criticism and applied it to the spreadsheet. I added in the $9 movies that I had somehow missed from Best Buy, as well as re-alphabetizing the movie list!

I will check by periodically to see if they have any more suggestions or have any other sources that I may have missed to create a fuller experience.

Re: A spreadsheet detailing blu-rays and DVDs on sale for Black Friday

Thanks, EinCB, for posting and thanks, others, for filling in the gaps.

There are more than a few titles I know I want to pick up, plus a few blind buys I'll have to weigh. Ultimately, it's about budget and time. Out of what's listed, what I'm most interested in is:
$08 BB Deadpool
$08 BB Captain America: Civil War
$04 BB Evil Dead (1981)
$10 BB Ghostbusters (2016)
$10 Ta Star Trek Beyond
$10 Ta Finding Dory

Re: A spreadsheet detailing blu-rays and DVDs on sale for Black Friday

What is the chance that some of these new releases will come out in a few months with an extended edition? Star Trek Beyond, Deadpool, Batman v Superman, ...? I've been burned a few times so now I'm a bit gun shy.

Batman v Superman already includes the extended cut. You are safe on that release.

Tim Miller shot down the possibility of a Deadpool director's cut, although it's possible that Fox will slap something together themselves.

Being a first cousin once removed from Tim, I can tell you he has always been a butt-head.

Re: A spreadsheet detailing blu-rays and DVDs on sale for Black Friday

Great idea thanks for the info. Looks like I'm gonna be spending some cash Ola this Black Friday.

To the moderators maybe we should have a black Friday thread but soft and sticky so people can check it out. Also those who don't want to go to store do you realize that most of these deals if not all are available online as well

Can't believe I'm going to make pretty much all of my purchases at Best Buy this year instead of Amazon. Bizarre!

What Amazon has done this year, and the previous several, I believe, is pretty much price match other businesses.

Yep. And now that Amazon is charging tax in my state I am going to buy from the price leaders and not the follower. No real advantage to buying from Amazon anymore if the price is the same and both are being taxed.
