Rarely ever get much if any advance notice. The Q1 sale has almost always started on Tuesday and fall sale it's been on Tues 2 out of 4 years

Yep -- I've got the Q1 sale list and BN dates for their Criterion sales back to 2009 in my list.
So everyone should be on high alert around noon tomorrow. I'd just as soon they slide to next week with McCabe and Mrs Miller and Boyhood releasing though already the BN sale is too close to get too excited. I'll save Dekalog and the GDT Box (assuming I just don;t get PL alone) to go with the Lone Wolf boxset for November

I would tend to agree with this. But I generally like giving at least $100 directly to Criterion during these sales. It also goes to the rewards program.

I think a lot of people have at last a $10 credit in their Criterion's account, so there will be more direct orders than ever. I'm certainly going to get at least a couple titles. Between saving on tax and shipping it's not hard to match what many of us pay at B&N anyway.

Yeah, as I indicated in another thread, I am focusing my resources on the likely Twilight Time sale over at SAE in November and Barnes & Noble's Criterion and 40% off Blu-ray sale which are both just weeks away.

My plan would be -
From CC: The Immortal Story, Chimes at Midnight, Boyhood, Blood Simple, McCabe & Mrs. Miller -- I have a $10 credit to use
From B&N: Dekalog (using the Black Friday coupon, hopefully 30%), Pan's Labyrinth (maybe would get through CC sale if included), Dreams, Punch Drunk Love, The Squid and the Whale, One Eyed Jacks, Valley of the Dolls -- I will have GC from my credit card points to use.
Amazon: Lone Wolf and Cub -- pre-order for $40 due to price error
Going to B&N and trying to get coupons to be taken has been a hassle lately. I did like in July being able to use a 15 or 20% off entire order online. I would love if that happened again. I wouldn't have to go to the store at all.
