Re: Twilight Time Blu-Ray Deals

Well, these were the only ones I wanted that I didn't already own and I got my order in quickly before a couple swiftly go OOP.

$9.95:
BORN FREE (1966) (SPECIAL PROMOTION)
THE FORTUNE (1975) (SPECIAL PROMOTION)

$14.95:
TWO RODE TOGETHER (1961) (SPECIAL PROMOTION)
JULIA (1977) (SPECIAL PROMOTION)
FUNNY LADY (1975) (SPECIAL PROMOTION)

I would have grabbed "The Last Detail," but it is available via Indicator/Powerhouse for $15.99 and it is region-free.

Re: Twilight Time Blu-Ray Deals

Just bought Man In the Dark, my very first TT disk. Compared to Kino, I don't consider $20 a sale price, but keep telling myself that TT is "special". At least the waiting is over.

It is worth the 20 bucks. It is a fun movie with excellent 3D!

I am weakening on this one. I love 3D when it is done well. But that $20 price tag is making me hesitate. I've noticed many used 3D titles appearing at local shops because people fear they will eventually be rendered useless. I don't share that fear. But I believe Twilight Time will have a hard time moving that one as well as "The Mad Magician" without a major price reduction. It's a gamble I may regret but I won't be devastated if i miss out.

Good grief...stop the madness! My wallet can't take any more.... The only "must-have" on that list that I do not already own is "9 to 5." I may have to sit this one out because the budget is stretched at this point.

Absolutely, although I'm holding off for a later sale as I think the price will drop further. I have the region free UK edition but would like this one for the exclusive supplements. Savant's recent review of it here is worthwhile reading.

I hear that! I've gone so far overboard on these sales it's scary. Limiting myself to two or three from the $14.95 batch for now, and hoping some of the others will survive to see the coveted $10 sales.

Virtually all of those other titles have been +/- $10 for ages now, as part of the 7/$70 sale, and I believe they were $10 (without having to compile a bundle) in at least one sale in the past. The only one that I think is new to that price is Heaven Knows Mr Allison and, possibly, Mr. Hobbs Takes A Vacation. Still, good price on those.

I'm pretty tempted by Titus and House of Bamboo, but I have got to slow down on purchases.

I would pick up "Titus", -it sounds like a nice set, essentially replicating the DVD, -but reviews of the PQ are mostly negative.

Re: Twilight Time Blu-Ray Deals

I broke down and decided to place an order for Hush ... Hush, Sweet Charlotte; Prime of Miss Jean Brodie; and Titus.

I didn't want to miss out on those, even though I know Titus didn't get the best marks for its transfer. Very tempted by Inferno, but I think I'm going to see if it drops any more. Plus, I'm still waiting for Mad Magician to get marked down. I'm surprised Inferno got marked down before it.

I put in a big Criterion order on Friday so I'm about tapped out so just the Russia House and the Purple Rose of Cairo for me.

I chose to hold off on buying the Russia House earlier this year. Good call!

Re: Twilight Time Blu-Ray Deals

Darn, more wallet damage in the offing

Guess 'The Big Heat' Encore edition didn't sell per expectations. Bought that one for full price when the encore edition came out as I had missed out on the first edition and now its 1/2 price - man, you can never game the system on supply/demand.

Also 'Remains of the Day' is available as an excellent Region Free Sony release in the UK and can be had for very cheap (I paid £5.00 - VAT on Amazon.uk). It comes with a slip cover and UV (not redeemable in Region A). Reached out to Sony USA and the excellent customer service there redeemed UV for me upon providing proof of purchase.

For those that have it, how is the PQ/AQ on 'Bobby Deerfield' ? - was just about to unwrap my unopened DVD to watch it

True...but the TT version does have a nicer cover (my opinion) and a commentary/isolated score. Now I've read the comments on the isolated score over at that other forum...and i'm not saying it justifies the $14.95...but it is worth noting.

Re: Twilight Time Blu-Ray Deals

This sale is on at Twilight Time's own site as well, for those with a preference.

Even though TT discs are on sale almost monthly now, I'm feeling less of a rush to buy since I suspect more of the $15 and $20 may eventually hit $10 before they sell out (*crosses fingers*).

Incidentally, Born Free was $9.95 at SAE back in the May sale. Not sure if others were similarly cheaper than they are here, but if anyone's checking previous orders . . .

Thanks for that. I prefer ordering from TT's website but alas Remains of the Day is not available there. Eh, I'll figure out what to do once I get home...watch a few trailers, etc.

true. '14.95 Rillington place' was also '10 Rillington Place' in the previous sale.

Keeping my fingers crossed on 'Miss Sadie Thompson' to complete my Hayworth collection. Dont want to pay $20 knowing 'Cover Girl' and 'Pal Joey' hit $10. But the 3D on this is an added bonus. Decisions, decisions
