I did the opposite. I bought Runaway Train (and Hound of the Baskervilles) and decided to wait out the Russia House.

Remember, in addition to the issue of shipping costs, SAE has some older titles not available on the Twilight Time site.
Morbidly I figure ill pick up the various box sets when he passes (i have all hte MGM ones on dvd for now)

it would be nice if those 90s movies had better disc releases

Re: Twilight Time Blu-Ray Deals

I wonder if they will be adding titles as the sale is lasting a full month. A lot of titles formerly included in the sale are not this time. Born Free, Born Yesterday, Funny Lady, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, to name a few.

Ha! That's funny...we should hold a bet to see which one sells out first. Though with my luck lately, you'd probably win.

The sale is only on MGM titles. I believe the ones you mention above are Sony.

Ah I didn't notice that. Thanks. Yes all titles I mentioned are Sony except Jean Brodie, which is Fox.

Twilight Time has done an awful lot lately with movies that involve trains.

The Train
Bullet Train
Runaway Train

Too bad they don't have the rights to this one: (Half Joking),

Re: Twilight Time Blu-Ray Deals

Wow, that's a lot of train titles.

Welp, true to form my order arrived from Screen Archives yesterday (media mail only took like 3 or 4 days). Bulletproof (to coin a term from another forum member) as usual...nice padded envelope and then the actual Blu-ray cases wrapped in another layer of bubble wrap. Perfect condition.

I know people might bitch about the whole limited edition thing, but they really do care about getting the discs shipped correctly to their consumers. Awesome job, every time. This is exactly why out of all the boutique labels (Criterion, Kino, Shout Factory, etc), I have the most discs from Twilight Time.

It was two titles. I'm trying to remember the 1 or 2 times I did 3 or more what they did, but that was too many packages ago to remember specifics.

Re: Twilight Time Blu-Ray Deals

Finally got an official low-quantity update this morning (after Brannigan and Lilies of the Field sold out at SAE, oddly enough):

Less Than 50:
FOLLOW THAT DREAM
BONJOUR TRISTESSE
RICHARD III
THE FRONT
MINDWARP

Less than 100:
INHERIT THE WIND
THE HAPPY ENDING
BIRDMAN OF ALCATRAZ

Re: Twilight Time Blu-Ray Deals

Yeah, I tried the cart trick on all the 'less than 50' titles at SAE before making that post, and it let me load 50 on all of them. Thought they might have been false readings, but obviously not. The Brannigan business does make you wonder how much any quantity reports can really be trusted, though, or whether some titles might disappear in between. At one point on Facebook, TT said they might not have new alerts until the 18th. Sure...

Re: Twilight Time Blu-Ray Deals

Last chance sale at Twilight Time for:
American Buffalo
Moby Dick
Mississippi Burning
10 to Midnight
Lilies of the Field
Mindwarp

Bought '10 to Midnight' and 'Mississippi Burning' at $14.95 each. Wanted Moby Dick but the consensus seems to be that the PQ is terrible, so passed on it. Anyone thinks otherwise ?

Re: Twilight Time Blu-Ray Deals

Ahhh...they never took this sale down...it was even offered during the MGM sale a few weeks back. In fact, they removed the Woody Allen film, "The Front." Every time I attempt to put together an order I simply can't pull the trigger. There are not enough titles I don't already own or want bad enough to shell out $70. They need to add some new offerings to that list.

They did (thus my post). I've been checking the bundle link pretty consistently. As noted, it was off for a while, but not long, although with these new additions I'm in basically the same boat: nothing much I'm really dying to see, and I've already got multiples of most of the rest (and getting exceptional resale value on them up here, which is about the only reason I might be tempted, but it's unlikely)

Re: Twilight Time Blu-Ray Deals

Yeah, I didn't check every day, but if you scrolled down in the featured box at the SAE website, the bundle sale never disappeared. At least, whenever I checked. They may have added a title or two but nothing that entices me enough to order. I don't wanna buy multiples and sell them off. It's just a pain in the arse. After years of collecting, I finally learned my lesson, the only time I sell now is when I trade in a standard edition for a steelbook purchase or a vastly superior version as with Arrow's beautiful "Donnie Darko Limited Edition." I have no need for the previous disc since I now consider it unwatchable. But buying titles to resell to take advantage of the bundle doesn't interest me. I don't desire the titles on that list (that I don't already own) bad enough to make a purchase. I predict they will have to add a few more as the MGM deal comes to a halt. Now I am off to Best Buy to grab the "Phantasm Collection" for $59.99 and complete this months's horror trifecta: "House The Complete Story," "Donnie Darko Limited Edition," and "Phantasm Collection." How sweet it is! Just want to put a quick note in to acknowledge when a company really goes the extra mile. Diabolik DVD did an awesome job packing and shipping both the "House The Complete Story" and "Donnie Darko: Limited Edition." Peanuts, paper and air bags were used to pack the two sets securely and they arrived in pristine condition. I paid a bit more, but on these two titles it was worth it to me and I am also supporting smaller companies rather than throwing more dough at Amazon and crossing my fingers that a moron doesn't drop my item or pack it in an over-sized box with nothing securing it from damage. Bravo to the folks at Diabolik.

Re: Twilight Time Blu-Ray Deals

I'd hate it if some of these go on the '7 for $70' type bundle sale in the future but hard to say which of these won't sell out to feature in such a sale.

And man, was it just me or did anyone else think 'Low Quantity' was another title in this sale ? (am slow this PT morning)

Re: Twilight Time Blu-Ray Deals

Just a head's up, "Two for the Road" IS NOT part of the sale, it5 was included in error. The correct title is "Two Rode Together," a pretty minor John Ford directed western. I'm still debating whether to grab it.
