It is a limited edition set, not sure how many were manufactured.

8000 per the initial press release. This must be a release of the remainder of the stock they had, maybe for replacements. Or, maybe theyíre releasing the stock in waves.

Re: 4K / Ultra HD Blu-ray: Discounts and deals

Deep Discount had it for a bit more than $90 for brief periods.

A lot of folks got it during Target B2G1 sale for a little more than $70-75ea. I know quite a few groups bought 3 and distributed it to the group -- that's pretty much how I got mine. One person backed out late so I ended up with 2 sets. I ended up stripping it for parts --
selling the digitals, the individual items to those who only wanted 1 or 2 movies, and the box/book. Even at well below Ebay prices at the time I ended up with a net $40 set once all costs were figured and 5 or 6 people ended up happy in the end that they got what they
wanted without having to get 2-4 movies they didn't want.

Any reason to presume these won't eventually have individual releases?

Iím guessing they probably will at some point, but Sony explicitly stated that it wouldnít happen before the end of this year.

Got it today. Very nice packaging. Each movie has it's own slipcase but it's not a slipcase that would be used if they sold them individually.

Re: 4K / Ultra HD Blu-ray: Discounts and deals

Hi Tom Obus:
Did your copy have the corrected extras disc for Laurence of Arabia ?
In case you were unaware Sony issued the following statement before the set was released in June:

Due to a manufacturing error, the Columbia Classics 4K Ultra HD Collection currently includes an incorrect LAWRENCE OF ARABIA special features disc, which does not include the full amount of intended content. This does not affect the 4K UHD presentation of the film itself. The correct special features disc will be available to consumers who purchase the set, whether as a pre-order or as part of a future order, pending the eventual availability of sets that already have the correct disc included. Consumers should receive communication from their retailer about this corrected disc soon, but may contact the Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Customer Care team with any questions at [email protected] or 1-800-860-2878.
The missing extras were:
  • Deleted Balcony Scene with Introduction by Anne V. Coates (SD – 7:06)
  • The Lure of the Desert: Martin Scorsese on Lawrence of Arabia (HD – 7:51)
  • Lawrence at 50: A Classic Restored (HD – 13:30)
  • King Hussein Visits Lawrence of Arabia Set (HD – 2:01)
  • Wind, Sand and Star: The Making of a Classic (1963) (HD – 5:04)
  • In Love with the Desert (SD – 83:54)
  • William Friedkin on Lawrence of Arabia (SD – 5:43)
  • Sydney Pollack on Lawrence of Arabia (SD – 2:38)
  • Steven Spielberg on Lawrence of Arabia (SD – 1:26)
  • Theatrical Trailer (HD – 4:44)
  • Theatrical Teaser Trailer #1 (HD – 1:53)
  • Theatrical Teaser Trailer #2 (HD – 1:18)
  • 70mm Restoration Trailer (1989 Release) (HD – 1:55)
  • TV Spot #1 (HD – 1:02)
  • TV Spot #2 (HD – :12)

I am happy to report that Amazon actually did a great job with their packaging. It was in a box with some air pillows. The set arrived in perfect shape. I donít remember the last time I ordered something like this from them that didnít come beat to all hell!

Now I just need to unload the 3 newer films from it to recoup some costs.

Worth a shot. Store has very good feedback so seems legit, but I'm betting this is supposed to be just one movie.

UPC on the listing is for the proper trilogy set, so if that's not what you get, you can return via ebay for item not as described.

That was my thinking -- though looking at releases I can't find a solo release. I find 3 variations of Trilogy packaging, but no individual releases on 10/20.
I've taken bigger leaps -- if it's cancelled, no harm in trying. If it's incorrect it's an easy reversal.

I took a shot at it. $9.99 is a lot cheaper than $42.99...

Re: 4K / Ultra HD Blu-ray: Discounts and deals

Just a heads up to anyone ordering from the gruv site, you can use the 10% off coupon as well SIGNUP10 with free shipping at $25+

They have the Casino 4k best buy exclusive steelbook for $10 and I threw in the Howard The Duck fye exclusive steelbook for $10 as well to hit free shipping.

Not expecting anything to go through but i'd happily take any of the 3 for the price.
Credit to Hype88
Also in for a few cancellation

Anyone know anything about this seller? I do not think it is a scam but just a error. need to check this out more.

Iíve never heard of it before, but apparently Universal owns/operates GRUV, so that makes me more optimistic.
