None, whatsoever. Same discs and content. Just separate cases, should you prefer that.

Thanks.
Looks like one of my local walmarts still has copies (with the 4 movies) for $45.

It was a deal of the day. Don’t worry, they’ve been going on sale every few weeks, with this one being the best prices yet. BB must be taking a bath on these steel books.

Best Buy can't return them for credit like most media, so expect further deals on them from the chain.

I wonder how much Disney+ screwed them over on these.

How so? Disney+ has been in the works for years. It’s not like the service came out of the blue.

From what I hear from folks on other forums, Best Buy's shelves are practically overflowing with a batch or two of Disney steelbooks. They cannot move 'em to save their lives, which is a big part of the reason why there have been so many sales and steep discounts. Best Buy reportedly learned from this and has been more conservative in this year's orders.

There could be a bunch of causes. Lackluster artwork. Too many titles flooding in at once. Releasing at least some of them during an extremely competitive time of year, and by the time things cooled off, hardly anyone cared. And, yeah, Disney+.

Re: 4K / Ultra HD Blu-ray: Discounts and deals

For me it was releasing too many at once. If Pixar and or the non Pixar Disney films had done a more staggered release of say 4-6 a year I would have bought them all.

I’ve picked up 4-5 of these through sales since release but have gotten all I will get now. If I’m not getting them all I’m not paying for cars 2 (or 1 again) for example.

I really like the art on most of them.

I also read that Disney isn't allowed Best Buy to return this particular unsold product back to them, which normally happens in Retail Stores when product is just sitting.

Explains why they've been having similar sales on these every few weeks.

But wouldn't you think Best Buy would have known this by now with buying from Disney over how many years?

I really doubt it's a new policy (could be I guess). Seems like it was just assuming everyone was going to pay out the nose for those things "because it's a Steelbook and...Disney!"

This particular situation hadn’t really happened. Tons of catalog titles flooding in at once, around the time a Disney-specific streaming service launched.

I guess Best Buy ordered a ton of steelbooks, thinking they were really gonna clean up, only no, not so much. It sounds as if they’ve struck a better balance with this year’s waves.

Re: 4K / Ultra HD Blu-ray: Discounts and deals

It wasn't long ago that the majority of these steelbooks sold out the first hour they went on sale, so if you wanted to pick up the Little Mermaid 4K steelbook, you had to have preordered it right when it was listed, or got in line when the store opened. Their scarcity was one reason I kind of ignored them after that, until the point where they were getting heavily discounted with the recent releases.

Best Buy must've been looking at those earlier steelbook sales and thought...

It’s back as another Deal of the Day. The selection isn’t exactly the same. I see Moana for $9.99 this time, for instance.

At least with the $9.99 titles, the titles offered this time around are 100% different but ones I was hoping would show up!

Ordered 101 Dalmatians & Sleeping Beauty for myself and Big Hero 6 for a close friend.

No worries. Aladdin doesn't show up in any of their prelisted pages for me. I had to search it out.

Link

By searching I found way more Disney 4K Best Buy Exclusive Steelbooks. Not at these great discounts and some are pre-order. Looks like many of the animated titles and Pixar titles are getting 4K releases in BB Steelbook.

I count 73 Disney Steelbooks (14 BD only and 59 4K) listed at Best Buy, only 1 (Onward 4K) currently is a preorder. 5 listed as sold out (a couple of those may still be on the shelf, a couple are almost certainly long gone) and listed 6 In-store only for now. Many of the long sold out Steelbook (mostly BD) have long been removed from the site.

35 Current 4K Steelbooks are in the 9.99/14.99 Sale though 4 are already instore only and 1 (Dumbo 2019) sold out

All 3 of the 1st time Title releases with 4K Steelbook since January are listed as sold out (ROS, Maleficent 2, and Frozen 2) for those considering waiting out Onward Steelbook.

BBY filtered links don't often work on forums, but you can try

More 4K steelbooks at Best Buy as a deal of the day. They’re priced lower than usual, even. Frozen is $4.99. Nutcracker is $6.99. Several Marvel/Pixar titles are $7.99. 24 titles in all, no more than $14.99.
