Don't forget that if you can do store pickup, add them to your cart with shipping on each, then change it to store pickup and get $3 off, which pays the tax for me, so $49.63 total.

I want Life of Pi & Martian (Extended) (or swap out Alien: Covenant for one of those) but trying to tell myself no. It should be noted that you can also get up to $2 more off if both are available at your local store for pickup. Good stuff though.

Where do you see this? I'm on the website, and I've picked my local store, but it's not showing any kind of discount beyond the 2/30 deal.

Select shipping first and see if they offer you the option to pick up instead during checkout and it will include the $1 offer.

Thanks dex14.
That is sneaky! The $1 offer doesn't show up if you select in-store first. You have to make it look like you want it shipped before that gets offered to you.

Yeah, they have been doing this for a little while now. It almost always works, unless it's store pickup only or they will suspend it around Christmas too. Just depends, but at least it pays for a little bit of the pain.

Oh man, I bet this one is gorgeous in 4k. It is one of my favorite flicks of the last few years, but I'm not sure I want to double dip. Maybe at sub-$10.

Re: 4K / Ultra HD Blu-ray: Discounts and deals

I did the Fox Connect deal. Since gmail ignores periods (.), I just requested the Fox Connect coupon modifying my existing email with an extra dot inside. Got the code within a minute, and was able to apply it to an order using my existing Fox Connect account.

There is a $100 order total limit, so I couldn't get 4 new releases, so I ended up with Shape of Water, Greatest Showman, Three Billboards, and Alien Covenant for $67 after discount.

Amazon's little "feud", or whatever it is they have with Disney, has rendered it useless for new or recent releases. It was going to take 4 weeks to get a copy of Thor: Ragnarok. I went into Best Buy over the weekend and they had a crap load of copies - they got my business instead.

Yeah. I am not sure what Amazon is thinking. Instead of buying Discs from them I am buying them from other companies.

It is not like I am stopping the purchase of Disney movies because Amazon is not allowing me to preorder them. I am just shifting the purchases to other more convenient companies.

It just feels short sighted on their part.

I agree also, but Bezos also happens to be the richest person in history, so I don't think Amazon is hurting too much from these protracted negotiations with Disney.

Re: 4K / Ultra HD Blu-ray: Discounts and deals

I've been preordering with BB for quite some time. I'm Elite Plus so I get the same free shipping. The only issue I've had so far is they sent me a couple movies I had cancelled but since they never charged me for them I wasn't too upset.

I liked the theatrical cut. I was excited when the extended came out on BR, but I found it really dragged. Never visited it again. I may be tempted to revisit now that I can get the theatrical cut in HD.

Disney has a vested interest in keeping brick and mortar shopping a viable outlet for their products. There are indications that the studios in dealing with Amazon are now strongly favoring sending inventory to actual retail outlets during the crucual first four weeks of release.

The studios see Amazon gaining more and more power in the distribution chain.

That is incredibly ironic considering their releases from the past few years have given little, if any, incentive to buy their (re)re-releases in terms of mastering and bonus content.
