Re: Dollar General Blu-rays

got too many to count. but here are the highlights - platoon, speed, battle of Britain, i robot, mirrors, a perfect getaway (a guilty pleasure), the immortals, mean streets,Taken 1,let the right one in (original), knowing, little miss sunshine, terminator 3.... i saw (but didn't get) carrie (original and remake), gentlemans' agreement, Spartacus

I figure for $1.24 I can always use the case if I don't like the movie!

Re: Dollar General Blu-rays

Thanks for posting this deal. I don't normally bother looking at the movies at Dollar General, but reading this thread got me interested. I stopped in one Wednesday and got the Blu-ray of "Escape from Tomorrow" and Shout Factory's "The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec" DVD+Blu+Digital. They were both half price plus BOGO, so 1.24 each. While browsing I came across a bunch of used Blu-rays in sleeves for $1. They were not BOGO or half price, but they were absolutely like new. Star Trek: Into Darkness, Dark Sky's House of the Devil, Hugo and a DVD of Let the Right One In. I haven't seen three of those and it's cheaper than renting. I was in a hurry so I couldn't stay longer. I thought I would go back today, but when I got home and looked at my haul, I saw that the sale was ending that day. I'm definitely going to look at their movies from now on.

Re: Dollar General Blu-rays

I really enjoyed this sale, admittedly in part because of DG's programming mistake. Their stores are everywhere here and as I'm currently working an hour's drive from home, took different routes home each afternoon to hit a different group of stores. In the end I bought 20 disks, leaving a few on the racks as I have my doubts about actually watching some within the next five years. But at $1.24 each...

A few highlights: Never Say Never Again, Spawn, Caddyshack, Porky's, Platoon, The Adventures of Robin Hood, and West Side Story 2XBD.

You may be able to do those in iTunes and at least get the MA port or you can contact the Studio and maybe they will drop the title into UV for you. If all else fails, Flixster Video still has Customer Support. You can get a help desk ticket and then they send you an email. Send them pics of the front and back of the Blu case along with a pic of the code. Worth a shot.

Re: Dollar General Blu-rays

I bought eight - there were about 50-60 $4.95 titles at the local store I hadn't visited with this red sticker but most were of no interest or I already had the title. These were all new dvds (I noticed some of the red stickers mentioned the discs were "used"):

single discs:
New Year's Eve
Dean Martin Christmas Show 1968
Pepe Le Pew complete collection (17 cartoons)

two-disc sets:
Rebel Without a Cause
The Best of Mr. Ed Volume 2 (20 episodes)
The Aviator/Shutter Island
The Enforcer/The Gauntlet
Absolute Power/True Crime

DVD but I just picked up Hobo With A Shotgun there. Never was a huge fan of that one, but I'll support Dollar General if they stock titles like that.

Re: Dollar General Blu-rays

After the massive sale late last year, I hadn't been checking into Dollar General much. I was at a store on Friday and there was some $2.95 BDs on a display. Nothing too exciting until I spotted this one. Even the 70 year old cashier said that's a pretty good deal on something like this.

Re: Dollar General Blu-rays

Supposedly some Blu-rays at Dollar General have been reduced to under $2.

I went by a few DGs this afternoon, and it looks like they've gotten their Halloween movies in. Most of the Blu-rays were $4.95, but a few were $2.95, most notably the original Psycho.

Re: Dollar General Blu-rays

Remember the huge sale prior to last Thanksgiving?

It appears as if a similar BOGO deal begins on Sunday. Will they ring up even cheaper? Only time will tell.

Re: Dollar General Blu-rays

Uh, do you work at a Dollar General store or something, Cardsfan?

The only black friday sale for Dollar General stores is a big toy sale and the Legends Flashback console thing for 30 bucks. Thats it.

There is no super black friday sale going on for movies for this year

He didn't say it was a Black Friday sale. Look back one page in this thread for posts on the deal that he is talking about. It certainly happened.

well you make it sound like Black Friday sales started this Sunday.

Next week is Black Friday so this coming weekend on Sunday there might be a half off sale for DVDs and blu ray movies at Dollar General Stores,

But not right now anywauy

Its annoying that you're making it sound like this recent past Sunday just started for black friday 2018 sale on movies at Dollar General.

Next week this coming Sunday this coming weekend, maybe.

Jeez louise

He never mentioned the words "black Friday." You did. Reading comprehension.

Re: Dollar General Blu-rays

I apologize for the huge can of worms I opened.

Edit to add: I am not aware of any Black Friday deals at Dollar General. And I am not employed by Dollar General.

What IS your deal, anyway, urrutiap? I don't think that you've said a nice thing to anyone on these boards in ANY of your posts. If you have, please point it out, because I've certainly missed it. All I've seen from you are put-downs and name-calling. Please prove me wrong, because I hate to think ill of a fellow member...but you're not giving me much to hang any goodwill on.

No Im not.

I find it annoying that people who are crazy about Black Friday they're going around making it look like Black Friday sales are going on now at Dollar General stores which they are not going on until supposedly this coming sunday

So get off MY damn back
