All of the U.K/U.S. titles that were released simultaneously are the exact same minus some cosmetic differences to the packaging. Nightmare City is region free but not released in the U.S. by Arrow. You can see the region coding on Arrow's website under the details section.

The following titles are region B locked because they were released in the U.K. before they started Arrow USA.

Blind Woman's Curse
Spider Baby
Stray Cat Rock
The Beast
Immoral Tales
And the upcoming release of The Stuff was also region B locked.

Glad some folks have kept this thread alive. I decided to check the sale listing one more time and noticed quite a few titles that weren't on there when I made the first post. Just when I think I'm out again . . .

if there's one thing to look forward to with UHD, its that there will be NO region coding on them. The consortium has agreed to that. So no more of this nonsense

Yeah. Isn't it the Asian market that demands region codes?

Great as that may be, I do wonder if films like the majority of what's in Arrow's catalog (not to mention several other niche-oriented labels) will ever see the light of day on the format. I suspect a lot of it won't be justifiable.

Can't say I've known them to demand coding any more than the Americans or Europeans or whomever (and I've certainly got plenty of region-free discs from various Asian countries), but region coding a new format in this day and age would be rather counter-intuitive no matter who demanded it. Still kind of sad that we finally get a (supposedly) region-free format so late in the game.

There are issues with both Arrow's transfer as well as Criterion's:

On purely a surface level, the Arrow looks like the kind of subtle presentation Criterion would normally give films like these, whereas the actual Criterion looks like something you might've gotten from one of the Hong Kong labels when they were releasing Japanese stuff on DVD a good decade ago; namely contrast up the wazoo and eye-popping colours that don't necessarily seem appropriate for the era in which the films were made, even though they do look pretty damned cool. On the plus side, the detail in Criterion's print is appreciably superior. This is one of the rare instances where I've had to purchase both releases because I'm completely on the fence. Besides, the current sale pricing on Arrow's Lady Snowblood is more than reasonable to justify it in this case.

Interesting read for all of us cross pond importers - am such a sucker for BFI, MOC, Eureka and Arrow releases, yet don't own many on their lists:

Re: Arrow Video U.K. Festive Sale (until Jan. 18, 2016)

Just slipped in one last order of 14 'festive sale' discs and suddenly realized, rather embarrassingly, that Arrow has a pretty good points program that allowed me to shave an additional $75 CDN off a $238 order (using 7500 points accumulated over five orders from 2015), for a total of $163 CDN or $11.64 per disc on these, which then netted me another 1572 reward points. The only regret is that I couldn't pay in American funds which would've made the order about $112!

Class of Nuke 'Em High - £7.99
Zardoz - £9.99
The Visitor - £7.99
Nightmare City - £9.99
Rabid Dogs / Kidnapped - £7.99
Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins... - £7.99
City of the Living Dead - £4.99
Rabid - £9.99
The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension - £9.99
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 [Limited Edition] - £9.99
Frankenhooker - £4.99
The Exterminator - £4.99
Motel Hell - £7.99
Madman - £9.99
Sub-Total: £114.86
Free Shipping: £0.00
Reward Points(7500): £-36.23
Total: £78.63

Good time to import stuff from the UK as the £ is the lowest against the $ it's been in the 18 months I've been region free. A whopping $.32 less on each £1 compared to what I was paying summer of '14.

For anyone (but me) this would be a great time to make a bulk purchase.

Yeah I got a few just because they were so cheap and the free shipping mark made more sense since I wanted to get TLGF set.

The Long Good Friday + Mona Lisa [Limited Edition]
Vamp
Spirits of the Dead
City of the Living Dead
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (have the US version but was curious on this release)
Society

So how long does it normally take to get these orders in to the US?

I've never ordered discs from the UK, aside from amazon.

I have had stuff take 2 weeks. I have had stuff take almost 2 months. There appears to be no rhyme or reason and no way to predict it.

Anyone know where to get a few of these clear cases? Running empty on places to buy them.

P.S. Kinda sucks Arrow won't ship a person a few if their order is $75+, and their own cases get cracked. :-/

Criterion sells their cases 5 for $12, but I'm not certain if they're an exact match, and I think they only have one-disc cases, so you might have to improvise on certain titles. Just a thought . . .

Re: Arrow Video U.K. Festive Sale (until Jan. 18, 2016)

Ordered "Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and..." the last day of the sale and Just received it today. Used up some remaining points that I didn't realize I had so, with shipping, it ended up costing $12 out of pocket.

Years past, I would have been tempted to pad out the order with titles of only transitory interest just to get the free shipping. Trying to avoid that from here on out.

The single disc came packed in a folded cardboard holder, like the ones Amazon and B&N use domestically, but also had some bubblewrap around the disc. Nice to see them do that even on a single disc order.

Right on with a typical 2-week turnaround. Received my order today. It was packed tight but had bubble wrap and my Long Good Friday LE set wasn't scathed. Yay!

The Long Good Friday looks excellent. Great set.
