re: Deals Thread for Cult, Genre and/or Non-Region A Blu-Rays

Finally got it to work on my laptop, in Firefox, but only to a point: their "third party" billing company is a few years behind the times, apparently, and won't allow shipment of orders within one country (the U.S.) on a credit card based in another (it's next door neighbor). Haven't had this issue in years, since Deep Discount paired up with an outfit like that. DD eventually came back to modern times, but it appears I'll have to wait a while on Drafthouse.

I had no problems at Drafthouse other than Dangerous Men and Ms. 45 were both sold out.

I did get Miami Connection and The Visitor. MC came with a free digital download of the awesome soundtrack which was an added bonus.

Drafthouse Films answered someone's questions about that film getting re-stocked!

"It is! We'll stock more next week. The sale will go on..."

Said the sale will probably go on until Monday, maybe longer.

As I stated in an earlier post, I'm not sure if my order went through or not. Did you get an e-mail confirmation of your order?

Don't really know where to put this but if you're buying Deathrow Gameshow, it's better to use the BN 30% off coupon online instead of buying direct from vineager syndrome.

It's 40% off now and with coupon comes out to $12.69.

http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/dvd-...=0814456020600

BN free shipping is $25 but I'm sure most of you can find a way around that.

Oh, that's awesome! Thanks for the heads-up. Just picked that one up.

So I contacted Drafthouse directly and their marketing guy informed me that they're very aware of two big problems: the site doesn't work on mobile or Safari, and an IP issue prevents "international" buyers from placing orders even when the shipping destination is in the U.S. He did provide a link to a VPN download that should fix the problem, but as the OS on my laptop is too old and I can't/won't upgrade just yet for other reasons, I'll have to try it on a more up-to-date machine on Monday, hopefully, so it's good to hear that the sale will continue past the weekend. Not ideal, but at least their rep was apologetic and acknowledged the awfulness of their own system.

Don't believe anyone mentioned the Raro Video 50% Off Sale.

BLACK Friday Long Weekend Special Offer:
We are offering a unique 50% discount on all titles, including exclusive pre-orders only titles, from our FB "Shop "
Credit Card payments accepted.
Use this code to get the discount:
LZ9RXUBNWVR7
This code will not work if you by form our website.
Have a nice weekend.
Enjoy!

Once again no free shipping and the usual inconvenience of only being able to order one item at a time still exists.

Appreciate the thoughts, SterlingBen. I was wondering similar for Drafthouse. I've seen Miami Connection. It's a fun bad movie. Any standouts among the rest?

I wish shipping wasn't so much there.

I did as well. Always wanted to but didn't want to spend the bucks. Since my buying from Amazon was crazy light this year and with just a few items from Best Buy, I splurged and decided to try it.

Vinegar Syndrome got the majority of my spending this year. I actually went a little nuts:

The Undertaker *Limited Edition* [Blu-ray/DVD Combo] 1 $22.98
All the Sins of Sodom *Limited Edition* [Blu-ray/DVD Combo] 1 $19.98
Jack Frost *Limited Edition Lenticular Cover* [Blu-ray/DVD Combo] 1 $24.98
2017 Yearly Package [Black Friday Exclusive] CUSTOMER LOCATION: United States
PACKAGE TYPE: BLU-RAY ONLY 1 $480.00
The Lost Films of Herschell Gordon Lewis [Blu-ray/DVD Combo] 1 $12.49
Massage Parlor Murders [Blu-ray/DVD Combo] 1 $9.99
The Telephone Book [Blu-ray/DVD Combo] 1 $12.49
Good Luck, Miss Wyckoff [Blu-ray/DVD/CD Combo] 1 $12.49
Night Train to Terror [Blu-ray/DVD Combo] 1 $12.49
The Doll Squad + Mission: Killfast [Blu-ray] 1 $12.49
Subtotal: $620.38
Shipping: $25.00 via Film Canister (Black Friday Special)
Payment Method: PayPal
Total: $645.38

I did get an email confirmation of my order right after I placed it.

Good info! The only thing that sucks is if I decide to buy the other two items I wanted, I have to do the $9.00 shipping again. At least with 4 items it was $14 which saved you a little money even though it is still outrageous.

I appreciate the post, Spiderbite. I also thought I went a little nuts during the Vinegar Syndrome sale, but now I feel much better about my spending after seeing yours.

I almost did, but then then realized I'd be spending $25 on something that seems really cool at first but later wouldn't know what the hell to do with it.

I've never ordered from them before, do they send out a notification when they ship?

Yep. I just got my shipment notification email just a few minutes ago. I will post pix of the canister as well if anyone here is interested in what it looks like.

I have various movie posters and a really cool movie reel clock with actual film on it, so it will go somewhere in my movie room.

And for me...once you have spent over 600 bucks, 25 bucks seem like nothing.

I just hope to catch the shipment and my wife doesn't see it. She would freak. But I will put the canister out later and she ill ask where that came from. Then I will just either say that it has been there forever and she never noticed it or I have had it for awhile and just decided to put it out. Never fails!

Personally, I think it's nuts a small label would push a big sale during Black Friday. While I love genre films as much as the next fanboy, my attention is far more concerned with bigger ticket items during the Black Friday weekend.

I didn't even have the time this weekend to look through Severin's sale.

Yeah, I'm already kind of regretting not getting the film canister too. And I fully understand your situation with your wife, good luck!

I don't know, now that I'm buying less mainstream stuff these days, and Amazon doesn't have the great BF deals they used to, I was looking forward to Vinegar Syndrome's half price sale and bought a bunch of stuff from them that I otherwise may not have.

For those interested, Flicker Alley's combo pack of A TRIP TO THE MOON is going out of print, so it's currently 40% off ($23.97, plus shipping, presumably) until Dec. 31, 2016.

And another thing . . .

Arrow Video sale at Diabolik DVD. Some prices comparable to the U.K. sale for a change, too, though not everything.

Not blu-ray, but might interest those fans of '40s/'50s horror and SF - Monstrous Movie Music is having an end-of-year 30% off their soundtrack CD's. These releases come highly recommended - many are re-recordings, but very faithfully done, and each release comes with EXTENSIVE liner notes:
