re: Deals Thread for Cult, Genre and/or Non-Region A Blu-Rays

Upcoming Valentine's sale at Vinegar Syndrome, mostly vintage erotica/hardcore from the sounds of it:

Our Valentine's Day Weekend Sale starts this Friday at VinegarSyndrome.com!

It's our first sale of 2020 and it's now under two days away! It goes live at approximately 12:01am EST Friday the 14th through 11:59pm EST Sunday the 16th.

Starting the year off with a bang, we've decided to discount tons of (almost 150, in fact) perverse classics (read: classic erotica / hardcore) to 50% off SRP. As you stock up on back catalog releases this weekend, don't forget that March will mark the relaunch of our Peekarama line, kicking off with two new double features that will be up for pre-order during the sale!

Furthermore, VS March releases will also be available for pre-order this Friday. And if that’s not enough, we will also be unveiling (and making available for pre-order) our very first VSA title of 2020! It's a never-on-disc trash classic from an exploitation God. Yearly subscribers: you will receive an email tomorrow with coupons for the VSA and two Peekarama releases.

Now, one word of advanced notice for the sale: As a test, we will be trying something new, free shipping thresholds will remain active! But there's a catch, since you'll be getting 50% off your favorite goodies, the thresholds will be slightly higher than normal:
USA = $75
Canada = $150
Rest of World = $225

And...be sure to use our patented “Add to my existing sale order” free shipping method for your 2nd, 3rd, 4th...even 17th order during the sale!

We hope to make this V-Day sale an annual event, so be sure to check it out!

See you on Friday and happy Valentines Day from all of us at VS!

Wish I'd known in November they'd be doing this; some of my Black Friday haul was hardcore titles. Had I known this sale would be coming, I'd have made Black Friday all horror titles, then gotten the porn I wanted at this sale.

Still, I might get Her Name Was Lisa and the Pretty Peaches trilogy this weekend.

Regarding the Full Moon sale, they've been running some "free movie" deals in conjunction with orders. Yesterday's deal was a free DVD of your choice. Today's (24 hours from Thursday to Friday) is a free Blu-ray with purchase over $10. Of course, you need to go higher to get free shipping, but the freebie movie kinda compensates for orders under the threshold.

Spend $10 and receive
A FREE Blu-Ray!!!

(of your choice from our entire Blu-Ray library)
Single disc only
*Terms Apply*
One Day Only

*Offer available from
Noon (PST) 2.13
until
Noon (PST) 2.14

Add $10 of merchandise to your cart in order for the coupon to activate.

Then add any Blu-Ray and the discount will automatically apply.*

One Use Per Customer Per Day.

Curiosity question: I'm really not in the market for porn at this time; but I took a quick look & noticed that all of the photos both on the cases of movies with hardcore actors/actresses in them & the related photos are not only softcore, but all the actors/actresses are fully clothed. Are you 100% certain that their "classic erotica" movies are really hardcore & not the 80's softcore edited for cable TV versions?

I tried to get to the Full Moon site at work and it wasn't working, apparently it was blocked because it was flagged as 'Tasteless & Offensive'. I can't say they're wrong

I'm tempted to place an order with a free Blu-ray, but now I'm curious if they're gonna have a better freebie before the sale is over...

100%

I'd say 110%, but 100% is the maximum you can be certain by definition.

Kind of glad I read this. Even though I think for me owning porno movies is sorta dumb since generally it's not the kind of thing I just watch, I had to pick up A Thousand and One Erotic Nights I and II as I always liked those movies (since they have a story, I probably could kind of watch them at least until I got distracted). Generally, looking at those "classic" porn movies made me think of Boogie Nights "It's a real movie".

I have a few "classic erotica" movies from Vinegar Syndrome. Like you say, I lean towards the ones that are "real movies". Dracula Sucks and Ribald Tales of Canterbury bear at least a passing resemblance to their literary source material. There's still room for laughter though; in Canterbury, the actresses are wearing appropriate costumes, but still have like totally 80s hair. In another scene, a guy has to deliver some lines in the middle of an....um....action scene, and it's hilarious to notice a certain physical effect when he has to focus his mind on the dialogue.

Weekend Full Moon bonuses were small poster reprints (meh) and a LaserBlast action figure (so-so), but they’re back to the free Blu-ray today and tomorrow (Monday and Tuesday) with purchases over $10, for those so inclined.

i ended up ordering around a dozen of their Erwin Dietrich DVDs last week (a genre I’ve read more about than seen, and most of the transfers are apparently from quality HD scans made for the Euro SEs) and got longtime guilty pleasure Slave Girls From Beyond Infinity as the free Blu.

If Creepshow 2 and the limited Robocop were in stock, I’d pick up those and Deep Red.

Did anyone else get the Tammy and the T-Rex t-shirt or am I just a weirdo?

If I hadn’t gotten a stack of titles at a Vinegar Syndrome popup the day before, I would’ve.

This just in from 88 Films (for those thinking about ordering directly from the UK labels):
Royal Mail have told us that from this Wednesday, 25 March, all orders from the UK to US will be sent via an economy service, due to the Coronavirus crisis. This will take significantly longer than usual.

Travel and public health restrictions have significantly reduced transatlantic air transport capacity, and could disrupt the operations of both Royal Mail here and their partners in the US. As such, economy services will now travel by sea and may be subject to further delays at either end.

I know Arrow used FedEx for their tracked shipping, but that changed recently when they moved into their new warehouse. Not sure if any of the other companies (Second Sight, BFI, Eureka, Indicator, etc) use FedEx.

Ended up ordering Oldboy (2003) & Heathers (1988). They were the only things I really wanted from the sale.

Had an issue entering various phone numbers in the required fields, so I'm glad I eventually ironed that out.

Wow, but there're some amazingly sleazy discs being offered through that sale.

I saw some good bargains on some of VCI's releases, but I don't know if I trust their Blu-rays. Have they ever released a Blu that looked even remotely decent?

For anyone looking to order The Unnamable (1988) be aware there is an error with the 5.1 track but the 2.0 track is fine.

To date, no replacement discs have been offered.
