Re: EAA Charity Sale - Deals on Shout factory, Warner, Criterion, others
What are people even buying this year? The prices seem to be much worse than last year. Other than a few of the Shout/Scream Factor releases and a Criterion or two (which are double or more what they were before), I don't see anything to get excited about. Anyone think they may decrease prices as the sale goes along?

They might decrease in price, but I'm just going to sit this one out, based on what I'm looking at.

I think shipping and handling is similar to last year. I was not charged sales tax last year. As many have said some prices were cheaper last year, some are the same, some items are new this year. A few are even cheaper this year.
You have all the information above. If there are items you are interested in you can compare prices at Amazon, you can also check Camel, Camel, Camel to see the lowest price Amazon has ever charged, you can check the Black Friday deals and make an informed decision if you are determined to get the lowest possible price.

All five titles that I purchased last year are available this year....total including S&H would be $2 more this year. Two titles are the same price, two titles increased in price & one title decreased.
I doubt I will place an order this year...

Have not really been able to find Outlander very cheap, and 10$ seems like a pretty good deal, even with shipping/processing. I was going to go for Naked City as well, but this doesn't seem like much of a deal. Probably going to pass on everything....

I had a cart of 7 (+1 freebie since I guess I went over $50)...but the $12.50 in "Processing" just kinda stopped me cold. Not including the freebie, I was averaging about $10 a disc which isn't worth it. Also, truthfully, I only really wanted Community S5 (dvd) and Transformers the Movie (blu). *sigh*, oh well.

Yea... I had a cart of about $130. There are decent deals, but the processing stuff ruins it. Last year it wasn't too bad. I'll hold off for now.

I collect all Criterion and Disney BDs, so found a dozen or so $10 items. With the freebie and a handful of $3 items, 18 BDs for $160 was good enough for me.

On the website they remind that they are a charity and that the shipping and handling charges are their hard costs. I assume that means actual costs. They ship UPS ground. I placed an order with Criterions and some more obscure titles. I didn't purchase 2016 releases of popular movies as they will be much cheaper on Black Friday primarily at Best Buy and presumably match by Amazon. Though I didn't purchase them, the prices on complete TV series sets mostly on DVD seem to be very good buys. Exception to this being X-Files complete blu ray with revival series for $135. Naked City complete seems expensive at $37 mainly because it was $25 last year. Currently the best price at Amazon is about $58 new and $50 used. Amazon itself is selling it for $80. So $37 is a good price now. Twilight Zone Complete DVD is now $50 at Amazon which is the best price they have sold it. Its $40 here. Other costs probably make it cheaper here but not by a large amount.

I placed an order and it errored out on me when I hit submit. I see the authorization charge on my credit card account but I didn't get an order confirmation. I try to message them to make sure they got my order, they keep asking for an order number and I don't have one. I wish I had a phone number. It was an almost $250 order.

I had confirmation issues with my order last year as well. But it arrived without any additional issues. This year I already got my order confirmation!
Between the Scream! Factory titles, The Night Manager for $15, and some older titles that were $5 or less, I think I did OK price wise. The lack of tax is key though since even Amazon charges me tax on each order.

Well that's good to hear. I placed my order early. Didn't want to miss out on those Shout TV sets. I got 4 of the ones they had. Didn't get All In The Family or Bob Newhart ones since I had the singles on most seasons of those.

Has anyone received a purchase confirmation email? Purchase was completed fine, but no email for me.

I grabbed Carrie, Invasion of the Body Snatchers and Lights Out for a total of $43. Not the best deal, but it worked for me at the moment.

Haven't ordered yet this time around, but I've made a list of some titles that are slightly better or comparable to other upcoming sales.
I do keep in mind that this is a charity sale that is raising money for a good cause. All things being equal, I'd rather support a charity that helps others than a business (not that businesses don't deserve support since the provide employment and services).
And there are some attractive prices for folks who don't already have the items.

So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?”37 And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.”Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.” Luke 10:36-37
