Amazon Black Friday Deals - starts Friday 11/20/15
Had posted this in the Stores forum but figured it would get more exposure here.
From USA Today: NEW YORK— Amazon's Black Friday deals will start early this year, eight days early to be exact. On Wednesday the online retail giant announced that it would begin offering its Black Friday deals this Friday, November 20, with deals continuing throughout Black Friday, which takes place on the 28th. Similar to the company's Prime Day event in July, Amazon says that new deals will be added as often as every five minutes. Beginning on midnight of Thanksgiving, the company will be offering ten of its "Deals of the Day," with up to ten more Deals of the Day coming on Black Friday. As is the Amazon custom, there will be thousands of special "lightning deals" offered, with subscribers of Amazon's $99 per year Prime subscription service getting a 30-minute head start on a majority of the deals. While the company hasn't yet revealed what products will be discounted on Black Friday, over the next eight days shoppers can expect to see deep discounts on the company's own line of devices, including the Fire TV streaming stick for $24.99 ($15 off), a Kindle Paperwhite for $99.99 ($20 off) and the company's new 7-inch Fire Android tablet for $34.99 ($15 off). These deals will be available even if shoppers don't have a Prime account. Other Amazon devices such as the Fire TV streaming box, Fire TV Stick with voice remote and Fire Kids Edition tablet will also see discounts, though no word yet on if there will be a deal on the company's popular Amazon Echo, which retails for $179.99. Beyond Amazon's own gear, there will be the usual discounts on TVs popping up over the next eight days, including a 32-inch TCL Roku Smart TV for $125 (a discount of $54.99), a 32-inch, brand unknown HDTV for $75, a 40-inch, brand unknown, 1080p HDTV for $145, a TCL Roku 55-inch Smart TV for $348 ($201 off) and a "top-selling" 60-inch 4K TV for $799.99. Amazon will also be offering a Jawbone UP3 fitness tracker for $99 ($49.99 off), a Vizio 38-inch 2.1 home theater sound bar for $79.99, and Sonos PLAY:1 2-room starter set for $349 ($49 off). There will also be the usual assortment of video game discounts, including $50 off Xbox One consoles and $50 off a PlayStation 4 Uncharted bundle. MOBILE APP DEALS In a bid to get more people to shop in its mobile app over the Black Friday weekend, Amazon will be be making over 150 "hand-picked" Lightning Deals available inside its mobile app for iOS, Android and the company's Fire OS. These deals can be found inside an "App Only Deals" section in the app and will be released daily between 6 PM ET to 2 AM ET starting on Thanksgiving. Similar to Amazon's extension of Black Friday deals to the week before, these in-app deals will continue to pop up through Wednesday, December 9. Early highlights of the in-app exclusive deals include a Hisense 55-inch 4K Smart LED TV for $448 ($331.99 off) and a 50-inch, brand unknown, 1080p LED TV for $149.99. In an effort to help people stay alerted to the deals they're interested in, a new "Watch A Deal" feature will allow users to highlight Lightning Deals they care about in the app and get notifications on their phone for when they are live. Amazon is the latest to join the growing push to extend Black Friday beyond a one day event. Late last month Target and Walmart announced that they would begin offering discounts throughout the month of November, while Best Buy and Walmart-owned Sam's Club have held "pre-Black Friday" events on the past two Saturdays. http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2...eals/75939548/ Amazon 2015 BF Movie & TV Deals Calendar: http://www.amazon.com/b?node=7782239011 |
Re: Amazon Black Friday Deals - starts Friday 11/20/15
Friday the 20th is exactly seven days before Black Friday, not 8 days. Whoever told them that Black Friday is 11/28/15 isnt looking at the right year's calander.

I'm thinking this will be a SLOW and PAINFUL repeat of other years when Amazon extended their BF event.
Just shoot me now. |
Re: Amazon Black Friday Deals - starts Friday 11/20/15
You have to hand it to Amazon. They've made online Black Friday shopping an even bigger and frustrating pain in the ass than actually going out and fighting the crowds.
 |
Re: Amazon Black Friday Deals - starts Friday 11/20/15
And the list of "deals" I've seen so far are not that good. Many look to be repeats of the "Prime Day" excuse of a sale with others being nothing more than a PM of BF deals at BB, WM, Target, and others.
I'd hoped for a better price for the "Paperwhite" after passing on $30 off a couple of weeks ago thinking they'd better that price for BF, but $20 off is a normal sale price and not a deal at all. Add the horrible kludge the "Today's Deals" page has become and you have a formula guaranteed to frustrate. |

 That's kinda funny since I actually thought of standing in line at a local Best Buy. |

Thought I had a great BF deal when Amazon was selling the Alienware Alpha ASM100-1580 Console for $189.99 a few days ago. But they cancelled my order as well as many others do to price error. Although a bunch of people still got their orders shipped or they complained enough where they were able to place another order for the same price.

To bad my 14 year old 153 item want list is down to 6 items or my wallet would be yelping

Re: Amazon Black Friday Deals - starts Friday 11/20/15
I think The Wire was my best score from Amazon in the last 6 months. That was like a Christmas present in itself.

Re: Amazon Black Friday Deals - starts Friday 11/20/15
So far I haven't heard any deals I'm really excited about.

Re: Amazon Black Friday Deals - starts Friday 11/20/15
I am not overly worried about paying attention to Amazon anymore for deals. They certainly won't be cutting prices drastically except on their own hardware. As a hardcore media consumer, my focus will be on other sites.

Re: Amazon Black Friday Deals - starts Friday 11/20/15
I'm nostalgic for the days when Amazon was trying to compete with Best Buy and Wal Mart instead of Netflix and Apple.

8 days :) Most of the time you don't count the end date, so 20-27 = 7, but in this case since it starts at the start of the 20th and ends at the end of the 27th, it counts both. |

Re: Amazon Black Friday Deals - starts Friday 11/20/15
Not holding my breath for great deals at Amazon. The last couple of Black Fridays there have been pretty lame. I bought ZERO from Amazon during Black Friday week last year.

Re: Amazon Black Friday Deals - starts Friday 11/20/15
I'll look at the Gold Box deals but probably will end up only buying price matches.

Re: Amazon Black Friday Deals - starts Friday 11/20/15
I too have taken to the Internet to complain...

Re: Amazon Black Friday Deals - starts Friday 11/20/15
Since Amazon started charging tax in my state (Data Center?) even if they price match I don't think it really matters where I buy anything this year. Besides, for a so-called Black Friday Week I certainly haven't seen any deals yet.

Re: Amazon Black Friday Deals - starts Friday 11/20/15
They've already started with the online price matching. They matched Target's sale prices from this morning. The only thing they don't have is the 10% rip that Target is offering for today only.
This is going to be a good week. |
Re: Amazon Black Friday Deals - starts Friday 11/20/15
