Amazon CANADA: Kino KL Studio Classics sale
Normally I'd post this in the Canadian Blu-ray bargains thread, but since few actually read that one, and because these prices may be of interest to American buyers in light of the favorable exchange rate right now (even with the inevitable higher shipping), and furthermore because these are the cheapest prices I've ever seen KL Studio Classics drop to, here you go.
The whole line appears to be on sale (even a couple of pre-orders). Not everything is listed here, so you may need to search individual titles. Equivalent DVD versions are also on sale, most between $7 and $9 CDN. $9.25 BANK SHOT $9.49 THE McKENZIE BREAK $9.99 KINGS OF THE SUN $10.25 FALCON AND THE SNOWMAN $10.49 POCKETFUL OF MIRACLES AT WAR WITH THE ARMY TOPKAPI THE PACKAGE $10.99 MULHOLLAND FALLS METEOR BREAKHEART PASS MAN OF THE WEST MORE DEAD THAN ALIVE $11.25 BUENA SERA, MRS. Standard International Postage of $9.89 wipes out any potential savings. "Items shipped to addresses outside Canada are not eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping."

Re: Amazon CANADA: Kino KL Studio Classics sale
It's pretty good pricing for Americans if they can order five or six BDs at once.

To further make the case, I put seven of the more appealingly-priced Kino Blu-rays in my cart, then selected one of my U.S. shipping addresses, and got this: $83.93 (subtotal) $21.92 (shipping to MI) $00.00 (no tax) $105.85 CDN (TOTAL) $105.85 CDN converted to U.S. dollars is $85.36 Divide by 7, that's $12.19 U.S. per movie, shipped. I can't be the only one who thinks this is a good deal if you choose carefully. And to date, Amazon U.S. has never had these generally overpriced discs priced so low. They've been close on a few, but never on this wide a portion of the KL Classics catalog. Mind you, I'm still convinced -- as I mentioned in another thread here a while back -- that Kino will eventually start combining these into double- and triple-features or 4 Film Favourite collections, but should that not come to pass, then many of these prices are exceptional, and this is actually the second time they've had them on sale up here (although this time they're offering more of the catalog, and at lower prices). |
Re: Amazon CANADA: Kino KL Studio Classics sale
A lot of other Kino titles are on sale, too. If you just search for Kino blu, you'll see loads.
Foxes ($11.49), River's Edge & Running Scared($12.49 each), etc. (edit) Okay, not as many as I thought. The prices start to ramp up pretty quickly. Anyway, a few others. |

I left off quite a few of the higher-priced ones, since they'll inevitably be cheaper each time Amazon Canada puts them on sale. Best bet is to use Kino's own list to see if anything I missed is bargain priced: http://www.kinolorber.com/search-by-...Classics&page= |
Re: Amazon CANADA: Kino KL Studio Classics sale
Thanks for the heads up, I hardly ever check the Canadian site, I would've missed this. My average was 11.47 per movie (which is basically $10 plus tax I would have to pay here). Works for me! :)
Also, Dial M For Murder is only $7.49 for the Canadian version (!) |
Re: Amazon CANADA: Kino KL Studio Classics sale
You might want to check ebay. I don't know about these titles, but per another thread on this board, I recently got Kino Witness To murder shipped for under $8, & Quartermass shipped for under $7.

I was finally able to purchase Married to the Mob at a great price. Thanks for the heads up!

Re: Amazon CANADA: Kino KL Studio Classics sale
Indeed, it definitely "depends" . . . whether I post these finds in the "Canadian Blu-ray Bargains" thread, or outside of it. :)
Oh well, glad some American folks were willing to take advantage. And hopefully some Canadians, too, since eBay generally isn't the cheaper or more efficient alternative for folks up here. ;) (BTW, out of curiousity, and since I possess a couple of U.S. mailing addresses, I searched U.S. eBay for the ten Blu-rays I bought in this sale, and only one turned up as an active auction [at an admittedly low, low price . . . for now ]. The rest are all "Buy It Now" at between US$16+ and $20+, especially the newer, higher-profile releases like X-RAY EYES, BURIAL, TALES OF TERROR, etc. I'm sure if I revisited over and over again, I could while away the hours waiting for the true bargains to pop up or bid on titles in the hopes they didn't rise to these Canadian Amazon prices, but hey, time is money too, sometimes) |
