Depending how advanced you want to get...

My plan goes like this:

Step 1: work out what you'll be (comfortable) spending, wither by selecting a budget or by working it out.
Step 1.a): Original Price x .5 (50%) x .9 (membership) x "coupon*" x tax = total per item

Step 2: buy giftcards in store in increments of $75 to get the $10-after-Christmas bonus.

Step 3: Consider ordering items into the store/reserving things on the shelf. (Time limited, don't order in too early - or late - or you'll miss the coupon window.)

Step 4: Wait for coupons - check e-mail, mail and DVD thread.

Step 5: BUY! Remember that not every employee will let you use more than one coupon per day/hour, so you might need to make several trips.

*There MIGHT be a great Black Friday coupon; there might not. So you'll have to test your patience for greater savings vs. the possibility of no additional coupon aa to when you plan your trip/ordering-or-reserving things.

I seem to remember the last red-dened (Studio Canal only) extra on that list was mentioned in the Criterion review, so it may be even fewer S-C ezclusive bits than listed...

Just remember that if you buy early and try to get the same titles later on at a bigger discount, you'll only have 14 days to return your first haul.

Is there any way to know if you order online whether you'll get the corrected version of Eraserhead?

No need to wait, because it works. I used it on the Tati set and it went from $62.49 to $54.49.

Yeah, it's the corrected version - it's been the corrected version for a long while now.

I was more interested in the success rate of it working on $39.99 titles.

Ah, then that would be a no. Not online anyway. It's $40 firm.

re: Barnes & Noble 50% off Criterions! (11/1/16 - 11/27/16)

I'm not going as nuts these days (my backlog goes back several sales), but I picked up:

The Vanishing
My Darling Clementine
La dolce vita
It Happened One Night

We'll see if I go back for the Tati collection and F for Fake.

So it's 50% off then an additional 10% for being a B&N member? Correct?

Yes - I double-checked that my membership was current last week just for that!

I dropped 4 big ones on the spring sale and I've barely touched any of those titles yet, so I may sit this out.

If my wife wants to go to Oak Brook mall though, I may find myself finding something at the B&N store there, it's apparently the only B&N store left in the Chicago suburbs that carries DVDs.

A $39.99 list Blu-ray will drop to $19.99, then you get 10% (1.99) off of that, so you'll see ~$17.99 as your final price. Since I'm buying more than ten, that's an immediate "free" disc just on the savings.

You sure? Is this for new members or all members? I placed my order a little while ago and all of the BD's I ordered were $19.99 - there was no $1.99 taken off of any of them in addition to the 50%.

Is it am in-store thing?
