Thanks for that breakdown. I can separate the orders online, since I'm not paying shipping, since I don't know if the gas and traffic aggravation is worth the few dollars difference.

re: Barnes & Noble 50% off Criterions! (11/1/16 - 11/27/16)
Considering getting a couple more titles with the new coupon, and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me why the DVD of Sundays and Cybele is priced at 24.99 (rather than 29.99). The BD is 39.99 as usual, and they appear to have been released at the same time and have the same features. This is the only title I've seen with these prices for the DVD and BD, and I don't understand why it's different. Does anyone know?

Also, if yoy have a particularly generous/non-observant/helpful clerk, you can usually get away with using the printed-out $8 off $40 coupon for 'New Members' on a RRP $39.99 title. Which works out to be 40% off if a) They let you use it (it's a bit sneaky) and/or b) They let you use more than one...

Was only planning to buy around 6 tittles this sale.
As my 1 year membership expired and no close stores around me and I'm almost broke. But with the $10 off $75 and multi use 20% coupon combine with discount GC's I kind of spent way over my budget and bought to much
Most interested in watching these from my buys
Zatoichi: The Blind Swordsman set(have some Zatoich on DVD already)
Eclipse Series 41: Kinoshita
The Essential Jacques Demy
Roberto Rossellini's War Trilogy

Exercised a tremendous amount of restraint and did not get ANY on this sale. All I wanted was 'Black Stallion' but there are other priorities :-)...Enjoy your movies, Folks

I was the opposite. I planned on getting 6 titles and ended up buying 12(I couldn't resist with the great success rate of the $8 coupon).

lol
Yeah I did not want to post my full haul(I hope I'm done with this sale)
Some sales I buy none, some I go overboard.Kind of went over budget this time with using GC's and getting around a extra 18.5% off +20% in most cases for a non member.
I got the CC fever when I bought the Royal Tenenbaums criterion DVD from A pawn shop about 10 years ago for A few dollars.I was just stating to buy used dvds and I was like this looks interesting and big.
Funny thing is I just picked up another copy of the Royal Tenenbaums on DVD from the same pawn shop A few weeks ago.
After watching Ivanovo Detstvo and the short The Killers from Andrei Tarkovsky
Would very much like to see A Andrey Tarkovskiy blu-ray boxset from Criterion.Add A Akira Kurosawa and Bergman set and I'll be broke and happy at the same time too.
my buys
The killers(3 adaptations)Andrei Tarkovsky short version(20 minutes+)Like the 1946 version the best.Andrei Tarkovsky short version was very good also, but to short.
The Bridge(very good)
The River(was okay, was not excepting something so white)
Vengeance Is Mine(very good)
Gates of Heaven / Vernon, Florida
A Man Escaped(very good)
Shooting / Ride In Whirlwind
Black Stallion
Valerie & Her Week Of Wonders
Autumn Afternoon
Silence de la Mer
Gate of Hell (Did not care for this one,was bored and not cup of tea)
Life of Oharu
Ivanovo Detstvo(very good)
Tokyo Story
The Essential Jacques Demy (Blu-ray + DVD)
André Gregory & Wallace Shawn: 3 Films backed ordered
Zatoichi: The Blind Swordsman set
DVD
Eclipse 39 - Early Fassbinder
Eclipse Series 41: Kinoshita
Roberto Rossellini's War Trilogy

Well, I'm not sure what's going on right now, but it was working last night. It's seems to apply intermittently now. One group it works and the next it doesn't.
Then I empty and re-add the same items and it works again.
I've tried it on a member and non member account with the same results.
What do you have in your cart?
Empty it, sign out, sign back in, refill your cart, and see if it applies.
If it's not working I'd go through the usual trial and error.
Try a different browser -- clear the cookies and memory, try Chrome Incognito maybe
Make sure there aren't any spaces before or after the code.
I added 4 copies of Killers and applied fine so maybe try to find something it will apply to first then try what you really want to buy.
It seems if I can can the code to apply once then I can add others items and remove what I don't want and the code applies
when I click apply again. Aggravating.

I heard the sale was extended through the end of today (the 3rd) but online the in-store pickup prices are showing as full price. Is this a glitch or is the sale over?

re: Barnes & Noble 50% off Criterions! (11/1/16 - 11/27/16)
Alright, I am finally done buying Criterions (at least until November). At the beginning of the sale, I bought two titles and thought I was done. But then the multi-use 20% off coupon happened, and I was weak! I ended up with 10 BDs (eight for me and two for a friend's birthday). I used 15% off coupons on three of them (two on the iOS app), a 10% off coupon on one, a 20% off in-store member coupon on one (with an extra 10% off with my temporary membership), and the multi-use 20% off coupon on the remaining five, plus discount gift cards for an additional 18% off everything. Final haul:
The Seventh Seal
The Killers
Sundays and Cybele
Tootsie
Ride the Pink Horse
Limelight
M
Ministry of Fear
Blow Out and Y Tu Mama Tambien (birthday gifts for a friend)
I'm hopeful that repeatedly telling myself how much I saved will magically repair the damage to my wallet.

re: Barnes & Noble 50% off Criterions! (11/1/16 - 11/27/16)
My haul, mostly blind buys this time:
THE RED SHOES - blind buy, but I keep hearing it's brilliant
THE LEOPARD - blind buy, Scorsese keeps shouting from the hills about it and it's not on Hulu
8 1/2 - yet another blind buy.. I had it on DVD and never watched and now I have an HDTV... been on my "must watch" list for years
THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST - saw it as a young child, but it's Scorsese and I feel it's time to revisit
THE RULES OF THE GAME - saw it a LONG time ago and barely remember it but keep hearing its praises sung
BLOW OUT - was sold by the description and the hour long conversation between Baumbach and DePalma
THE LIFE AND DEATH OF COLONEL BLIMP - blind buy, been hearing it's a masterpiece and it's not available on netflix or Hulu
Wanted to buy but made excuses (excuses in parentheses):
RICHARD III (I regret not buying it, might do Amazon)
THE BITTER TEARS OF PETRA VON KANT (this disc is available on Netflix)
THE BIG CHILL (also available on Netflix)
FOR ALL MANKIND (streaming on Hulu)
THE CASSAVETES FIVE FILMS SET (tbh if my B&N had it, I would have bought it)
THE NIGHT PORTER (streaming on Hulu)
IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE (eh, maybe next time)
HEAVEN'S GATE (I WANT to see it, not necessarily own it, but it is streaming nowhere and isn't available on Netflix... undecided whether to spend the cash on it, I've almost bought it for the last 3 or 4 sales)
I must say, the demise of video rental stores must be a boon for Criterion because so many of these movies are simply NOT AVAILABLE ANYWHERE ELSE, not on netflix/Hulu, definitely not on Redbox. If I want to see something like The Leopard in it's original Italian form, I have no choice but to buy the disc.

What are some of the best Criterion Blu Ray releases that are NOT available for streaming on Hulu? I've been in grad school and there have been so many releases since I actually had time to watch movies. I really want to take advantage of this sale -- I'm looking for:
1. Quality film
2. Some rewatchability
3. Good overall package (art, extras, etc)
...roughly in that order. What can you recommend? Thanks!

Made about 12 orders that first morning in a ten minute or so period. B&N, being wise with their shareholders money, shipped them all separately.

Crap, didn't mean to bump the old thread. Was browsing and got confused thinking this was the new one. Let's let this one die down and let the newer one continue on.

So is there a glitch with the 8 off 40 coupon? Last night I purchased Fantastic Planet using it and only received a 20% discount. Could the cashier mistake it for a 20% and manually input it as such? As far as I know it scanned alright. I was too tired to mention it.

It's "Item Cpn 20% #Y4N3Y8N" on the receipt. I just found it a bit odd since this was from someone who's had no problem accepting them in the past.
But yeah, I was happy just to get any additional discounts in-store.
