Not a big Blu-ray year for me this Black Friday. I got The Simpsons: The Complete Seventeenth Season and The Wolverine 3D from the Fox Connect sale. Other than that I picked up The Lego Movie from Target (just the regular edition).

I did wind up picking up the X-Box One bundle with Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin's Creed: Unity from Target. Also picked up Alien: Isolation, The Evil Within, Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, and Middle Earth: Shadow of Modor.

The Big Bang Theory season 7 DVD for $9.99. I have a few of the seasons on BD, but if it's not $14.99 or less for the BD, I just go with the DVD. Comedies being in HD don't really matter anyways.

After having a price watch at CamelCamelCamel for a long time on Imitation of Life (2-Disc with both versions of the film), I bit at $6.98 last week... only to discover it at DeepDiscount for $3.99 tonight with Universal anniversary packaging and digital copies. Mine's already shipped. Will it have digital copies? We shall see...

I really wasn't planning on picking up anything beyond Days of Future Past but I noticed someone got that Justified Season 4 Blu-ray for a steal at DeepDiscount and sure enough, I got suckered into the $25 minimum order for free shipping. Money is tight, but each of the titles I picked up are things I've / we've been wanting for a while. I haven't owned the Tolkien titles since my VHS days, I've been eyeballing the Rifftrax DVD for a while, and, well, Casablanca is Casablanca!

I watched the Muppet version with our preschooler this weekend and she loved it. Was hoping to find a great price for the Alistair Sim version (my favorite) or even the George C. Scott version (the one I grew up with) but maybe next year. I've heard really good things about Stewart as Scrooge, though, so this is worth giving a shot, I think. And perhaps it won't be as creepy as the other two I mentioned so I can watch it with the kids while they're young.

I did, although I don't think that they had it out at 6:00 PM when the sale started. I looked everywhere for it and couldn't find it; however, I went back about 1:30 AM and saw all three of the Indiana Jones films on Blu there.

And in DVD news, I never saw BAND OF BROTHERS or THE PACIFIC mixed in with the Black Friday stock. I went to the electronics department and grabbed both from back there; they rang up at $9.96 as advertised.
