I'll share my prior experiences with Clover Media. They are a clear-out retailer of some kind. They have the actual items they list, in typical condition of DVDs/BDs you might find at Big Lots. Yes, purchasing from them off Half is usually a better deal since you can combine shipping. I had no serious complaints with my purchases, though they did short me one item on an order that they refunded after I contacted them.

I think the key is how many people looking for DVD's even open BD threads. I know I wouldn't just like I don't go to the DVD threads looking for BD's.

Good luck to anyone who purchased one of the titles from GoHastings. I bought Casablance UCE for $8.98 from them via Amazon on 9/23(Tues. night) and had it canceled last night. Apparently I am not the only either according to that other site. While I did not purchase any of the other movies from them, hopefully those who did will get theirs.

I didn't need any of those GoHastings deals but avoiding them is almost always the best course of action. I have a hunch they pulled their usual trick of listing the very common edition under the rubric of a much rarer, more expensive edition. It is such a repeated problem I would never order a special edition from them.

I ordered two items from them (Goonies 25th anniversary edition and A Christmas Story collecters edition) and they both shipped. Bought it from their ebay store. I guess I can always open up a Paypal dispute if I get the regular editions.

I do occasionally, because occasionally I have to buy the BR if the extras seem important enough to me to have to deal with BR. But I may be an exception (I often am).

Although, it also occurs to me that sometimes BR people mention those TV shows that are only ever released on DVD (such as most of the recent ABC TV shows).

I'd rather have one thread to go to but there will be too much bitching. People who buy dvd's will complain that they don't frequent the blu-ray bargains and then there will be people who buy a dvd thinking it's a blu-ray. I really wouldn't mind allowing tv shows, animated collections, and other special interest titles that aren't on blu-ray to be listed here as long as it's clearly identified as a dvd. Your first post is perfectly fine with me and should probably be the benchmark for listing titles.

What I would advise is have the mods post a sticky in the DVD Bargains forum which also has the title "The Official AMAZON Marketplace / EBAY / HALF bargain thread", and then just have one single link in that sticky that points to this thread in this forum.

Originally I thought the product should be new and there should be multiple copies, but at "that other site", alot of them post any auction that may be of interest to the community. There doesn't seem to be any abuse (like some member filling the thread with his auctions). So at this point, I don't know. I guess we can try it until a mod stops us or it becomes abusive.

I think it's going to have to be one or the other. Either mix it or have 2 different threads. That can just get too confusing and people will mix bargains.

That is something to consider. I know there are a few (I think very few) that don't buy BDs at all. I bet 98% buy some BDs. OTOH, I think about 50% of those who buy BDs, won't buy DVDs at all. But to me, it's not that hard to identify the item if it is labeled correctly and it's one place to check not 2. But again, the poll will tell us what everybody wants.


EDIT: I started a poll that will end on 10/1. I will go with the consensus.
