I don't want to have to go to a different thread to find out when the new coupons are released, but people should just PM hariseldon for requests. He specifically asked that people PM him multiple times yet we get two pages of people saying "coupon plz thanks."

Thanks, if that's the case, I went ahead and used the generous coupon codes given to me by hariseldon, and got it for $21.24 plus $1.43 tax for a total of $22.67 (but since there was no indication it was on sale from the normal $50 price in store, opted for shipping, but since I couldn't seem to get above $25 for free shipping, opted for the free 2 month membership to get the shipping taken off, but I didn't see any mention of the 10% member discount further taken off the total, does that not stack with a coupon code any more? Sorry, new to the BN scene.)

Since I now had free shipping and two more codes, I went ahead and made two more orders at a total of $18.14 each for "Videodrome" and "Scanners" and I considered double-dipping on "The Blob" but I already paid over $20 for the DVD Criterion (until now, the ONLY Criterion I had ever bought) so I didn't think getting the BLU-Ray version would be worth it (hey, the poster is still the same).

I missed hariseldon's asking for direct PM's, so I'm one of the offenders...and I can completely understand why joltman, DaveyJoe, and others would get frustrated by all of the requests. My apologies...and many thanks to hari for the coupons (they WILL all be used!).

I've already purchased Red River & Picnic at Hanging Rock. Both include paperbacks of the original novels/stories that the movies are based upon. Very nice...can't imagine much more deluxe treatment short of a WB-type 'big box' just for show. Also picked up Hard Day's Night & Life Aquatic a couple of weeks back.

Plan to get Hidden Fortress, Throne of Blood, Ace in the Hole, The Organizer, and a few others. Need to check the Criterion BD shelf again...sometimes hard to remember if I already have one of the older titles or just have it on SD.

So far, I've only picked up three titles:

The Life Aquatic
Fantastic Mr. Fox
Judex

I plan on purchasing a few more before the sale is over. I hope B&N extends the sale by a few days!

Has anyone been able to use the $8 off coupon? It all depends on your cashier not reading the fine print. I was able to pick up Judex for around $11 using the coupon (including the 10% off B&N membership).

I'm going for Shoah most likely, bought Picnic at Hanging Rock, Forreign Correspondent, and Mad Mad Mad World earlier. Scanners possibly too.

All That Heaven Allows
Hidden Fortress
Ace In The Hole
Diabolique

...with the intention to only pick up

All That Heaven Allows
Ace In The Hole
Persona
Red River
l'eclisse
Hard Days Night
Essential Jacques Demy

Got the first 6 so far, along with

Picnic At Hanging Rock
The Rosselini/Bergman Collection
King Of The Hill
Autumn Sonata
Jubal
Judex
Scanners
Safety Last
Things To Come
Blue Is The Warmest Color
John Cassevettes Collection

...with my eye on a few more before the weekend is over.

coupons have been easier to use this time, so the prices are seductive and encouraging me to expand my scope while the getting is good.

Re: B&N 50% off Criterion blu-ray sale now live from June 30 through July 28

Just got back from haul #2. Employees were extremely helpful, and let me use quite a few coupons in single transactions, even doing a combo that I don't think should have worked.

Transaction #1

$14.04 - Purple Noon - $20 - $2 (Member Card) - $2.70 (15% off) - $1.25 ($5 off $50)
$14.04 - Medium Cool - $20 - $2 (Member Card) - $2.70 (15% off) - $1.25 ($5 off $50)
$14.04 - Kid With a Bike - $20 - $2 (Member Card) - $2.70 (15% off) - $1.25 ($5 off $50)
$14.04 - Breaking the Waves - $20 - $2 (Member Card) - $2.70 (15% off) - $1.25 ($5 off $50)

Transaction #2

$18.99 Pierre Etaix - $30 - $2 (Member Card) - $8 ($8 off)

They wouldn't let me use another "$ off" coupon along with this, so it was done on its own.

Transaction #3

$13.62 - King of the Hill - $20 - $2 (Member Card) - $2.70 (15% off) - $1.67 ($5 off $50)
$13.62 - Hard Day's Night - $20 - $2 (Member Card) - $2.70 (15% off) - $1.67 ($5 off $50)
$13.62 - Scanners - $20 - $2 (Member Card) - $2.70 (15% off) - $1.67 ($5 off $50)

I didn't think transaction #3 would work, since it was less than $50 after all the other discounts were applied, but the manager applied the $5 off first before he did all the 15% off coupons. After the discounts were applied, it put the $5 back on, so he did some type of override and re-rang the coupon to get it to pull it back off.

Was totally surprised on that. I was dreading the whole thing when the cashier (who's worked there for 8 1/2 years) had to call the manager over to see if multiple coupons was okay. Then the manager was super-cool about everything. I'll definitely be making that my go-to store for the foreseeable future.

Also, big thanks to you for for hooking me (and everyone else) up with 15% off codes. Out of curiousity, how do you get so many? Did you sign up with a ton of email addresses and have them all dump to one master account? If that's the case, I can probably set something like that up for myself and help you out when the next set of coupons comes out.

Re: B&N 50% off Criterion blu-ray sale now live from June 30 through July 28

I've been reading DVDTalk's forums for a while now while never actually registering to join the many threads that I was reading. So far in July I've purchased/pre-ordered 10 stand-alone releases plus the 6-film Demy set. I've had my eye on the Qatsi Trilogy and America Lost and Found: The BBS Story Blu-ray sets for a while now, and I think adding an extra 15% off to the current 50 will be enough of an incentive to get me to order both.

I don't have 10 posts yet, obviously, but I'll post in a few threads and, hopefully, later tonight I'll be able to get two 15% coupons via PM that I can use online (I'm in Canada, so ordering online is my only option). Thanks.

Just how long does it take for BN.com to activate a new membership ? Registered a new account this morning at 9:58am.....at 1:10pm, store could not find the membership in the system still. register guy casually said it could take 2 days :-(...haul's being held until then while coupons expire 7/21

Re: B&N 50% off Criterion blu-ray sale now live from June 30 through July 28

Finally got shot down. Odd thing was, the guy initially protested saying it wouldn't work, then offered to try it, and then terminal wouldn't accept it...and he said it was because "it's already been used...on the 17th" (which it had been).
What was confusing though, I had also used it just a half hour earlier at a different location and it went through with no problem. In fact, I was kind of wishing I had brought every permutation of coupon along as the cashier seemed amiable enough to try anything I threw at him.

I just hope I can still use the $8 off somewhere with the Demy set cause I don't expect to see any more unique coupons this sale.

Re: B&N 50% off Criterion blu-ray sale now live from June 30 through July 28

It was the 20% off.
It's also coming up as used when I try to use it at BN.com now too. Usually I can use the store coupon along with the online for at least one order each- but the fine print on the coupon says in store OR online.

Can't really complain too hard as I've gotten 3 uses out of it anyway. wish now though I had just gone ahead and picked it up as the 10% off is still $2 cheaper than online- and the other location that is closer to me doesn't have it.

Oh well. Kind of ironic as that's the one I've become most eager to check out now.
