Arrow (Region B) Anniversary Sale on now

Good prices on most of the Arrows titles here.
Criterion level quality (usually) on a lot of these cult titles for around $13.xx-$15.xx.
Steelbooks are a little more, but still significantly cheaper than Amazon.

and they offer free shipping.

Re: Arrow (Region B) Anniversary Sale on now

Most of their Blu-rays are loaded with special features exclusive to Arrow and also bring over the domestic special features from the American DVDs. Unfortunately, almost all of them are locked to Region B, so you definitely need a region-free player. The transfers can be spotty at times, depending on where they get them. Blind Woman's Curse is a good movie if one is into stylish Japanese thrillers of the period.

Reviews of each Arrow edition:

Phantom of the Paradise

Big Trouble In Little China

Hellgate

Hell Comes to Frogtown

White of the Eye

The Stuff

Blind Woman's Curse

The Killers

Cheeky!

Frivolous Lola

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)

Some really great niche films which are rare to find, even on DVD, and if you do find them, they are outrageously expensive. Thanks for the heads-up. Ordered a few.

Not sure, but I assume it just runs through this weekend and will likely end sometime in the afternoon (EST) on Sunday because of the time difference.

Generally speaking, anything released from 2013 onwards has a very good to excellent transfer. Discs from before then are more variable in quality.

True, they have greatly improved since they made a commitment to striking their own transfers when they can. Their new Time Bandits Blu-ray sports a beautiful film transfer that slaughters the American BD.

Re: Arrow (Region B) Anniversary Sale on now

I didn't really pay much attention to their reward points, until I went back today thinking I'd grab just one or two other titles. I wound up ordering a few more than originally planned, but the reward points I'd accumulated and going for the seventh disc (to trigger free shipping) was pretty much like getting two of them free! --peter

How do you get free shipping to the US? Otherwise the high cost of shipping almost ruins the deal

How much were you being charged? It's only 5 pounds for shipping (~$8.49). Many of the titles you cannot get in the US.

Re: Arrow (Region B) Anniversary Sale on now

It's a shame these are Region B or I'd buy lots of them considering they usually kill the U.S. in the special features department.

Some U.S. players can bypass the region coding on Arrow's BDs with a trick. It doesn't work for all of their discs but the trick works very well on Panasonic players.

Bah. I didn't notice that. Could've added a Steelbook edition.

Me as well, anyone know. I would love to have these but have no intention of getting a region free player.

Although, just me or does everyone hate that rating they put on the front of all UK discs?

Re: Arrow (Region B) Anniversary Sale on now

Not all Arrow blu's are region-locked - I own Red Scorpion, Dawn of the Dead, and Phenomenon - so check the description of the ones you're interested in.

However, note that the non-HD content is in PAL and won't play on a PS3.

When the screen comes up saying you are in the wrong region, just press the "Top Menu" button on your remote or player.

Re: Arrow (Region B) Anniversary Sale on now

Thanks for the vital info! I'm gonna give Lady Snowblood a try tonight - it was cheap enough on Amazon to make it worthwhile for the DVDs alone - and if it works there's a buttload of Arrow titles I just might order!
